Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio reports the Bills will hire University of Florida defensive coordinator George Edwards for the same position in Buffalo.

It was just under three weeks ago that Edwards left his post as Dolphins linebackers coach to head up the Gators' defense. Since 1998, Edwards has also served as a successful linebackers coach with the Cowboys, Redskins, and Browns. He worked with Chan Gailey in Dallas. The Florida job would have been his first experience as a coordinator.

The pay increase better be worth it for Edwards, because once Chan Gailey flames out in +/- 3 years in Buffalo, he will be unreliable damaged goods.

as long as they signed their LOI's who cares?  Obviously,  Meyer told him to hang around until after signing day.

I really doubt too many of those recruits signed because of a DC that was just hired and announced 3 weeks ago, like the recruits who verbally committed months and months ago.

who knows. Most sign though because they get along with there coaches. And Id assume you would have to like your position/DC to play for him

Edwards did very little, if any, recruiting.  Almost all of UF's commits were verbals before Edwards was even hired or shortly after he was hired, so he had very little to do with this recruiting class.

Agreed. Most of these recruits were wooed by Charlie Strong. If Strong's leaving didn't change their minds, this won't mean much.

Is that DC from TCU still out there??

I'm not sure, but now is a bad time to be looking for coaches.  They will have to throw some big time money at somebody, which shouldn't be a problem.

Considering 3 current Head Coaches were UF coordinators (Stoopes, Mullen, Strong), you'd think it would be a high profile and attractive job.

Looks like the new DC will be another NFL position coach:

Nothing is official regarding the vacant defensive coordinator spot at Florida and the school currently does not have a release planned, according to a UF spokesman.

All signs point to the hiring of the Arizona Cardinals’ defensive backs coach Teryl Austin as Urban Meyer’s next hire
