FYI, from AP:

Garcia said Gruden, who was not available on Saturday, has given him no assurances about playing time.

"I do want to start. ... But I don't expect it to come without competition. I think competition is healthy," Garcia said, adding that he can also can help with the 26-year-old Simms' development.

"And if Jake Plummer were to show up here after I did, I welcome it. It's not a situation I'm fearful of."

You go, Jeff.

Welcome to Tampa Jeff. You are our short term savior.

Even if you hate the signing....

Here is too Garcia doing well as a Buc.

I still think Simms will start. Just a hunch. Please put in the shotgun Gruden!

I still think Simms will start.

He may, and if he does, then he earned it because now he has some actual real competition for the job. Garcia didn't come here not to try and win it.

Indeed he will. Simms needed the presence of someone like Garcia who can help him in game time situations.

Maybe he can teach him about passing lanes.  He's 6'1" and doesn't get nearly the batted balls Simms does.

I like this signing, i think garcia is a good fit here for a short term player, cause at 37 he cant play to much longer unless he is the new Flutie

If Simms wins the starting job, it means that he's stepped up his game which is good for all of us. Frankly, i don't think he will but we'll see.

I hate the signing, but I hope Garcia does well. But I want to see Simms start.

The way Garcia presented himself, it seemed like he would even be content to have contributed in the progress of Simms.
