Can anyone name any QBs that developed with little talent around them?

Donovan McNabb didn't really have any great WRs earlier in his career.

Tom Brady had some pretty crappy receivers as well, although still leagues ahead of anything we have.

If we dont draft a reciver high, or bring in a free agent, than yes, it was a dumb move

John Elway had crap support on offense and still led his team to some superbowls.   (they didn't win them, but he lit it up with a piss poor supporting cast)

1 year ago today they released icons Brooks and Dunn...   that was the beginning of the end for this team.....   fast forward 1 year later and they're dropping the only WR that is worthy of a double team by opposing defenses....   this team is pathetic

In my opion, the Glazers dont care if this team goes 0-16 next year. They just dont want to pay anyone with the looming lockout.

This is the start of the offseason..how about waiting and seeing what happens before clamoring for an injury-prone wideout with a poor attitude?  There was no way the Bucs were going to pay what he wanted after the year he had last year.  If any team pays him what he thinks he is worth, good for them.  I doubt they will get the return on that investment.  Having said that, the Bucs obviously have to address the position in the offseason.  What if we sign a guy like Kevin Walter and draft a couple wideouts to develop?  Is that so bad?  Being a #1 wideout in this league is so subjective.  This time last year did anyone know that Miles Austin would overtake Roy Williams?  The wideouts in Indy would develop in Gonzalez' absense?  Hell...Marques Colston was drafted in the seventh round as a TE out of a tiny college and was N.O.'s go-to receiver half way thru his rookie year.  Freeman needs help but if he develops good chemistry with a guy like Walter or one of the rookies, we should be fine in the long run.

Yeah, we should've obviously kept those guys around.  They had HUGE years last year.  31 other teams passed them over too.  As much as it sucks you just have to admit that even the best players run out of gas in their tanks.

This franchise is still in the demolition mode.

It is hillarious that we are keeping Clayton but getting rid of Bryant.

Sorry guys...but either the Glazers are pulling the strings to cut costs or Mark Dominik is a complete idiot. Even if you are going to trade for a WR...we just gave up the leverage. Now every team out there knows Tampa Bay is desperate for a #1 WR.
I completly agree. It is rediculous. [banghead] [banghead] [banghead] [banghead]

You can't develop rookies when you are being blown out in every single game and you have no veterans on the team to keep the proper mindset in the locker room. That wont develop into anything.

Plus this team is being lead by a coach in over his head.

And nobody is answering my question...

Why are we keeping Clayton but getting rid of Bryant?

Does the guy have some embarrassing photos of Joel or something? I mean what the hell does it take for this clown to get cut?

There is no good answer for that question.  We simply don't know why.  It may be a timing thing.  Its not like we cut Bryant, we just said we wouldn't be a player for him in free agency.  We still may cut Clayton.  I have long since given up on him.

Is it opening day?

Obvious. Bryant probably has a knee of a 50 year old man. Not many moves have made sense for the Bucs in awhile other than Freeman and now this.

Your "question" was already answered.  Bryant is FA and Clayton isn't.

There is plenty of time left to cut Clayton.
