Chev

The falcons have scripted their entire gameplan around vick for 2 reasons.  He is probably the most physically gifted man to play in this league since Brown, and they are salary cap hand cuffed to him for the next 8 years.  Simms doesnt have either of those things going for him, hence we arent going to rethink our offensive scheming because he cant handle it.

Not asking to rethink, just asking them to call more plays that suited his abilities better.  How many times have we stretched the field to try to back those guys out of the box?  Am I the only one to see that when we had to pass, we did, and did it well using the 5 and 7 step drops?

Without Carl Nix it feels like our running game just took a death blow to the face!

I think it's still possible. Maybe with Grads it will be a run first offense. Anyway, don't forget that last season Caddy was hurt a couple games and still ran for over 1000 yds. So, possible? Yes. Probable? I think not.

Naw all they owe me is to play better and to silence some of these critics around here.  I'd be happy with a solid run game to be honest.  I'll buy my own staek and grille it during the game.  I'm better than Schula's anyday... ;)

Don't forget the milk!!! That was a good tip, my man

EXACTLY.  Although it's more a talent thing.  Even if we had changed our whole scheme to fit simms, it wouldn't have worked for 2 reasons:
Simms just isn't that good.
THe other player's strengths are not the same as his, so their games would have dropped off.

Caddy will get around 700 yards this year.

No

Simple answer to a simple question.

I agree.

Maybe around 700.

Since Gradman is gonna be QB, I'm hoping Caddy will get the rock 25+ times a game. Even if he gets measly 3.5 ypc, its still enough to put him over 1000 yds. That said, it will only happen if Gruden rides Caddy like he did the first three games last season, which he should if he wants Gradkowski to have any chance at success.

Let's hope he can survive the beating

If he's limited to <20 carries per game, no.

If he carries the rock 20-25 times a game (at least) then yes.

You gotta believe he'll get to 1,000.  Mentioned earlier is the new qb angle, and a rook at that, means you know they'll want to run more.  We haven't seen a committed run game plan yet, but its in the playbook.  Caddy for 25 runs mixed with 10 touches between Pitt and Alstott and the WCO returns to Buc Ball.

Besides, the staff knows that Caddy is one of theose backs that gets better as the game progresses.  His second half, and 4th Quarter stats were terrific last year.  Gru is going play that.

The O line has not run-blocked well yet, but the pass blocking has been acceptable.  Run blocking will follow suit.

Not with Jeb Terry playing that spot either...

WOW! Chev, are you actually being critical of the O-line?

Anthony Davis and Buenning are O.K., but I agree. Mahan is like a floating toy out in the pool of a thousand screaming children. He gets batted around, in other words.
I was thinking you woulda used the ol' "he has hyenas following him around town" line...yours was better

I'd say he's got a 10% chance at 1000.
