Jim Flynn and Scott Reynolds just spoke with Bucs QB Josh Freeman at One Buc Place. Freeman said he has been camped out at team HQ all offseason and putting in all the necessary work - and then some. He said he does not want to play like a second-year QB this year. Rather, he wants to play like a fourth-year QB. The Bucs will need that to happen if they have any hope for a winning record in 2010.

Freeman also said that winning drives him and that he uses games like Green Bay, Seattle and New Orleans as motivating factors more than losses at Carolina or Atlanta. Freeman mentioned that Sammie Stroughter, Maurice Stovall and Michael Clayton have been around One Buc Place a lot this season and that they go out and simulate two-minute offense quite a bit.

Freeman was looking incredibly fit at 255 pounds - down 10-12 pounds from last year. He said he is ready to step up and become the team leader this year and that he embraces the pressure of becoming the face of the franchise. He mentioned the term "my team" several times.

“I’m taking it very seriously,” Freeman said. “Last year at this time, obviously the draft had not occurred, but after I got drafted it was a whirlwind. The focus really wasn’t on me per se, it was on who was going to be the guy – Luke [McCown] or Byron [Leftwich]? They were trying to get me some reps and trying to incorporate me, but this year it’s my show. It’s my team and I want to win. I want to get things done the right way. I don’t really feel you do that by sitting around at home. I want to come in and work. I want to be as well prepared as I can be so when we get everybody back from OTAs we can get this thing rolling.”

More coming later on PewterReport.com - stay tuned.

Since luke99 isn't here yet I will play him and then he won't need to post........

Freeman sucks.   He's Ryan Leaf 2.0   We would have been better off with McCown or Leftwich or Griese.   Raheem is so stupid for picking him.  He needed to stay in college for a senior year even though that makes zero sense whatsoever.   blah blah blah Freeman sucks.

So how did I do?

Surely a positive post on Soul Glow could not be allowed without Luke or his representative in this case saying something...Thanks...

Without Carl Nix it feels like our running game just took a death blow to the face!

I hope he can back it up.  I love what I'm hearing and if he can play like he did against Seattle and Green Bay and not like he did against Carolina that would be outstanding.  Make me buy a Freeman jersey, bud.

We all know that kind of work breeds success.  Good things have to happen if he stays the course...

I think the Bucs can help Freeman  be a winner if  they get  the running game going this year.
