Colt McCoy says that Tim Tebow "can walk on water"

In a Friday appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy spoke passionately about his abilities, in comparison to the other top quarterbacks in the draft.

And McCoy thinks he's the best of the bunch.  "I feel like if you don't feel like you're the best quarterback in the draft, than something's wrong with you.  I'm a competitor and playing quarterback is what I love to do, and I feel like I'm the best," McCoy said.

In response to further questions (and, at the risk of kissing Patrick's ass too obviously, excellent questions at that) regarding McCoy's commitment to his excellence, McCoy elaborated.  "I think I'm better than every quarterback in this draft," McCoy said.  "I think every quarterback has to have that mentality.  You have to do that.  So for me, I don't compare myself to anyone else.  I tell them what I'm going to do when I get there.  I tell them I'm going to work my tail off, I tell them I'm going to do exactly what I did at UT.  I earned my job, I earned the respect of my teammates and my coaches.  Nobody worked harder than me, nobody was more prepared than me going into a game, and I'm going to do the same thing when I get to the NFL.  It's football, I love the game and you're going to want me on your team."

Asked Patrick in response (and in jest):  "Can you perform circumcisions?"  He then pointed out that Tim Tebow can.

Said McCoy, "Tebow can walk on water."

Though McCoy was laughing as he said it, we could see some folks taking issue with McCoy's comment, especially since it came on Good Friday.  Others may appreciate the humor in McCoy's words, and his ability to think quickly on his feet. 

We'll take no position on this one, deferring instead to those of you who may be inclined to comment.

I'm becoming more and more of a Colt McCoy fan the closer we get to the draft. I think he is going to be a damn good starter for a long time.

If we didn't already have a "franchise" QB, I would say draft Suh or McCoy, then use both 2nds to move up and get Colt.

And why do I feel like the Colts or Dallas should get him? I mean, it would be sort of befitting, wouldn't it? The name and all...

Colt McCoy is criminally underrated. There's nothing Bradford has that he doesn't, IMO.

If I were the Rams, I'd be working the phones with Dan Snyder and Mike Shanahan to get out of the #1 pick. There's a damn good chance they could get more picks, draft Okung at #4 and McCoy at #33 and come out of this draft with a franchise QB and a franchise LT.

This is just a feeling I have, but someone is going to trade into the bottom half of the 1st round to get McCoy. My money is on the Browns to do it. Mangini and their GM was at the Texas Pro Day and Holmgren has essentially said they arent interested in Clausen.

I could also see Denver dealing Brandon Marshall to get back into the first for McCoy or a sliding Clausen. I'm guessing McCoy goes somewhere between 29-33 -- which is fantastic value, considering you're getting a player with essentially the same positives (strong arm, great accuracy, quick release, mobile) and same negatives (played in a spread/QB-friendly offense, ability to read defenses suspect, injury issues) as Bradford for a fraction of the cost.

Probably a pick 'em -- watching film, I'd say Bradford has slightly better ball placement than McCoy while McCoy shows a little bit better touch than Bradford.

Bradford is more accurate on the deep passes.  I think that's where he generally gets the edge over McCoy from most NFL folks.

lol, McCoy's a Christian too, so I highly doubt he meant to be offensive. You can always count on Florio to report anything that could be even remotely interpreted as bashing Tebow.
