LINE MOVES: Sean Mahan replaced Dan Buenning at left guard late in the first half and played the rest of the game. Buenning, who has started all 21 games in which he has played, was called for tripping in the first quarter.Mahan was penalized for a false start and a tripping late in the fourth quarter.Line coach Bill Muir said not to read anything into the change."Sean, we feel, is a good football player," Muir said. "And I didn't want to leave any game we play without him having some opportunities."
could the bucs brass be trying to save face for rushing Dan back from injury too soon?
Its this kind of logic that is really ridiculous. Chucky, I have some shocking info from a source deep inside the Bucs organization. This Bucs "Deep Throat" says that they are not putting Mahan in the lineup to save face. They are actually doing it to try to WIN THE GAME!
Another thing to consider is that maybe they feel more confident in Mahan's ability to pick up the blitz. He doesn't get manhandled by DT's, but from what I have seen it isn't as much about being out of position as it is about not having the physical tools.
Well it looks like the O-line still needs a little attention in FA and the draft.........WTF is this Groundhog Day [banghead]
I disagree. This is a case where Muir is clueless and once again can not see the difference between a talented good player versus and average/below average not so talented player.
we're facing one of the most blitz-happy schemes in the NFL. we blew assignments vs the blitz against the ravens and our offense disintegrated. maybe the coaches are worried about buenning's ability to cover his assignments in big blitz situations.
