1. Morgan Freeman
Mr. Freeman is the best narrator on the face of the planet. His narration of Shawshank Redemption is the best I've ever heard. Anything he narrates just captivates me.

2. Sam Elliot
Another captivating and magical voice. When he talks, I listen.

3. Peter Coyote
This guy was BORN to narrate. He's also a great actor and a writer.

4. Peter Thomas
Peter Thomas is the narrator of Forensic Files. I couldn't imagine watching that show with any other narrator.

5. Alec Baldwin
I love his voice as a narrator. I remember an episode of America's Game which he narrated and his narration was excellent.

Hmm, I am not up on all the narrators but here are a couple that stick out in my mind:

Merlon Olson - pretty sure he did a Nature series, right?
Leonard Nemoy - His older, gravel voice hosting History channel stuff (I think) is pretty cool
The late Carl Sagan - C'mon, NOBODY holds a candle to his Cosmos narrating
Alec Baldwin - Yeah, I'm getting used to his voice as a narrator
The late George Carlin - he narrated the Thomas the Tank Engine children's series of movies and TV shows and did an excellent job.

I can't say who is best, but those are the ones I am familiar with after 1/2 cup of coffee.

James Earl Jones has to be on that list.

No David Attenburgh? You lot ought to be ashamed.

Honourable mention to Snoop Dogg who should narrate EVERYTHING.

The OP must be a racist .....  8)

 8) =  Yes, I know that Morgan Freeman is Black ... It was a joke .... but to leave Darth Vader off that list is unpardonable.

That was John Facenda. Harry was later.

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Kalas, and he was a real professional and a very nice man.

My. Kalas spent a lot of time in the area, usually in the Spring when he was covering Phillies training games. Occasionally, I would have the opportunity to engineer voice over sessions for NFL films with Mr. Kalas. These were the end of the year highlight reel films they usually show just before the season starts. I probably did five or six of them during the late 90's - early '00 time period. He was always very professional, easy to work with, and just a nice guy to talk to.
