I don't agree with Steve White on this one. Price was probably the absolute best available, our interior D-line appears to be set for 10 years. I loved the pick.

I also disagree with this assessment... If we had traded down, another team would have traded up to get him. We NEEDED interior linemen, and I personally feel that having improved interior will make our defensive ends shine.

Also, like Ola said... the LAST thing you want to do is reach when you're a team lacking in talent. If you can find 2 starters, you take 2 starters... Now, if they went for a 3rd defensive tackle before round 5, THEN i would question it, but we need 2 new starters and DT, and we need 2 starters at WR, and that's what we got with BPA. I dont' question that at all...

Would I have liked an impact DE? YES! Was there one available past the second round, NO. Lot's of maybes and what ifs, but nothing definite.

While White paints a picture with pretty broad brush strokes, lets take a look at the flip side and factor in the Dominik said he would play a little nose tackle which to me could be that the team plans on rotating McCoy and Price at under tackle and Miller will be the teams true nose tackle while the rest Hovan, Sims and Moore will be vying for the true backup nose tackle spot. Then on those third and long known passing situations is when Price would presumably be playing nose next to McCoy to generate the most pass rush up the middle? In this situation the team will always have atleast one solid penetrating true under tackle on the field to help collapse the interior and provide a solid rush while giving the other player a breather in the Florida heat and humidity?

Steve White complained when he was here, and all he does is complain about the Bucs now.  If we had drafted Dunlap, Griffen, or Wooten over Price, he would have said that we reached for a DE.

Mike Mayock said BEFORE THE DRAFT, that he thought Price was better suited to play 4-3 NT in the NFL.  White seems to forget that in 1999, when our defense was in its prime, we had a 3-man rotation of Sapp, Culpepper and McFarland at DT.  I see a similar situation with McCoy, Price, and Miller.

White might want to remember that when we had solid DTs in Sapp, Culpepper and McFarland, you could put any joker at DE (including Steve White) and they still had a pass rush.

In this particular instance I disagree with Steve. I'm happy the Bucs went with Price rather then reach on a player they weren't sure about. If Price and McCoy both turn out to be so good at undertackle that it presents a problem, flip one of them in a trade for a few number 1s and go get more play makers. The Bucs system, imo, cannot succeed without a penetrating, disruptive undertackle. If the Bucs needed to draft two of them to make sure they walked away with one winner then so be it. Rome wasn't built in a..., well you get the picture.

And with the first pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Teddy Bridgewater, Quarterback, Louisville.

I love the draft pick for Price. I think it was smart and will help a ton. Who cares what Steve White says, if Price and McCoy play out to the potential they have, then no one will criticize the pick. Lets hope for the Bucs defense that we all are used to! 2010 is going to be an exciting year, even if they dont do that well, it will be an interesting season

Price would not have been there at 42. Benn was a 1st round quality player and I bet the Bucs were looking at best available WR's and saw that D. Williams, A. Benn, and G. Tate were still there, which is why they addressed the DT position first in the 2nd round. Price was a need. Their were plenty of WR's available. At 39, Benn was still there and they traded up to get the better receiver. This was a great move.

What happens if it turns out that Price is a better pass rusher than McCoy........

Perhaps Bucs aren't sold on McCoy so they just trying to cover azzz

steve white tomorrow could easily write an article about how much a 4-3 team needs 3 solid DT's.  he's just trying to sell papers with this article.

Last time I checked, this isn't the same defense they ran 10 years ago. They'll find a way to get our 3 good DTs involved.

They met previous to the draft and talked with Price about the things they could do with him and if he was comfortable doing them. They've scouted him, and put in a lot of time watching tape. What has Steve White done in terms of watching tape? Does the guy even have enough savings any more to not work a normal job?

Did he really write that we should reach for need at #35 instead of BPA when we are in complete rebuilding mode and do need to replace both DTs?  Seriously?
