Sources tell PewterReport.com that veteran Bucs left tackle Donald Penn is expected to hold out of the OTAs and possibly the team's mandatory mini-camp in a contract dispute. Penn, who has shed 40 pounds this offseason, is a restricted free agent who has been seeking a long-term contract extension.

Of course he sheds pounds in a contract year, yet he's been ballooning the past couple of years. What's he going to do after he gets paid?

I'm going to have my eye on Mr. Dotson during the preseason.

Fulton is our backup option on the left not Dotson right now.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

He has leverage. Starting the season with a 5th round backup with no experience at LT would truly stink.

And with the first pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Teddy Bridgewater, Quarterback, Louisville.

I dont see the bucs budging and signing him to a long term deal with the CBA looming plus, what would Barrett Ruud's agent and Cadillac' agent, etc do hear that Penn got a long term deal.  The Bucs wont set that precedent and the only person that benefits is Fulton who will got a lot of reps with the first team

Even better. If Penn skips out on mandatory parctices and a starting-caliber player emerges, the Bucs should seriously consider benching him. We do not need someone to kill drives by jumping off sides on every other third down this season. We do not need someone to show up and not know what to do when the ball is snapped. We need hard workers this year, DEDICATED WORKERS.

Think a skip out on OTAs isnt going to affect his game? Think of what happend to spaghetti arms Ruud last season. There is a reason why he(Ruud) has been  working out with the team so much this off season. Besides, with this looming lockout NOONE is getting a contract extension NOONE!!! What the hell does Penn not under stand about that?

All I can say is Penn better not be the reason our boy Freeman gets injured.

Bye bye Penn, hello Gaither.  Make it happen Dom cause if Penn gets a contract he is heading to KFC and you'll be looking at another overpaid player not worth a **** (#80?)

Yeah lets get him a nice fat contract after the fact he slims down. Once the contract is set in stone, he will be back up to 350, loafing all over the place.

We need to draft a new LT next year. Penn is just too risky to pay. Rather want someone that is dedicated and not just show up for a contract year.

He's a good player at a critical position who stays healthy and doesn't miss games. We can't afford to dump guys like that. ...
