Phone looks sweet, but I get horrible service with Sprint. Probably going to switch.

I currently have the Pre.. which is a kool fone. The WebOS is great but the fone locks up waaaaay too much for my liking and the battery life is turrrrrrible.

Its Sprint's signature phone, they have been emailing me once a month about it. I have the Blackberry Curve right now and I hate it. The orb in the middle jams on me and is unresponsive.. also a phone that is just boring to me. I get to upgrade July 1st and I'm kinda over smartphones after having the Curve, I'm thinking about going with the LG Rumor Touch so I can have touchscreen and a full keyboard again like when I had the Centro.

A buddy of mine works for Sprint and i got to "test drive" the new Evo today. Its the first 4g phone in the US and its capabilites are ridiculous. Release date is the 4th... and being one that likes gadgets as much as i do, i gotta have it.







Has anyone else heard anything about it?

The Evo is pretty similar to the HTC Incredible on Verizon.  The Evo just has a larger LCD, and the front facing camera which will be really cool with Skype.

Unless i'm mistaken, the Incredible isn't 4g.

Because their network is crapola.  I had a Sprint phone and I couldn't even get a signal in the office in Brandon.  We have never had any problems with signals or dropped calls with Verizon.  The frequencies used by Sprint and At&T are not good at penetrating buildings.  My old Sprint phone was awful indoors whereas the Verizon is even usable in an elevator.

It will be quite sometime before the 4g networks have full coverage, and they are probably going to charge more for the service.

Verizon has the same thing, but just like every other smart phone you still are charged the extra 30 or so for the phone fee.

Actually with Sprint the only $30 additional fee is optional and thats to enable wifi on it.

If the coverage and service isn't great the cost of the plan is pretty moot.   I have never been anywhere that didn't get a decent signal on Verizon, plus the improved performance indoors is huge if you are office based all day.

Verizon uses 850mhz for their 3G network, Sprint and AT&T use in 1900mhz in most areas. The 850mhz band penetrates through walls and into homes more effectively.

You can't really overcome the inadequacies of the technology.

I wish they would get the Iphone, but sadly, it is not to be...

Guess in a few months, I will get the Droid Incredible.
