Somehow Clayton managed to avoid landing on this Top Ten Most Overpaid Players list - though I'm guessing that may be due in part to his being so unknown outside of Tampa Bay.  Interestingly there is a picture of a WR in a Buc uniform in the list though.

Ya sure.   This quote in the article completely invalidates it "does a 39-catch year really warrant a $28 million deal?"      That was under a horrible regime.   The year before he was the 8th best receiver in the NFL statistically.   I've been watching the Bucs since 1976 and Antonio Bryant and Joey Galloway have been the 2 most physically talented WR's in Bucs history.    I do believe Bryant benefited from a great coach in Jon Gruden and that was not there last year.    However, the guy has skills.   Clayton does not.

Interestingly, pretty much every player on that guy's overpaid list are NFL studs.

You have no idea about the random things in my head, this was one of them. I think you've also got to give major credit to. One of the few that saw through him. Jon gruden lol. Dude put mc80 right in his dog house. I'm just tired of seeing clayton on the roster, can we just cut this guy after the basketball playoffs are over? So that's the only news story and we can all celebrate. Do it 4th of july week. Thatd be so sweet. I would party so much.

Having been privvy to a few of those thoughts I get it. LOL But common sense says you keep him until at least camp. Longer if you fear or worst have an injury at the WR spot. The disdain for Clayton is well deserved, but you can't cut off your face just to spite your nose...

he has been very bad but the team as a whole has not been very good the past few years, and while clayton is a bum so is about 25-50% of the guys that we have had on the roster the past 5 years. the best thing to do would be to trade him for depth at a position of need.
