The team had nothing but sold out stadiums when Gruden was coach.   They didn't go in the toilet until Gruden left.   Try to spin it however you want, but it's a fact that the team didn't fold until after he left.

Glazers weren't working at McDonalds, they just swung in to take a dump on Buc fans cheeseburgers for kicks.

December 08 ring a bell? They went in the toilet when Monte checked out. Does that Monte was the real reason the Bucs had success all those years?

Go back and watch the games - Monte's D failed.  The O scored points.  Sapp put out the word - Monte killed the D.  Devastated them.  If you want to blame Gruden and Allen for Monte - do it in terms of not kicking his butt out of OBP when he close the door to the staff and players so he could focus on Tennessee's coaching staff.

I'd like to chime in. To say that BucNChampion's story is just one isolated incident might be true, but it reflects poorly on the entire organization whether that's fair or not. Especially since it happened on the day of Fan Fest -- an opportunity for the Bucs to shine and give fans the "warm and fuzzies" about the team and leave them telling good stories about how the Bucs went out of their way to make the day special. But just look at how one negative story can spoil it all -- my post is #18 already. Nothing is more important than good public relations when a team has a negative image that is growing. Executives from the top down should have made this day a top priority, instead it's now more fodder for the bashers. The Bucs executives would be wise to gather together a nice package of gifts to make up for the inconvenience of the Q&A people.

Gruden's offense lost the season at Atlanta by starting Griese....

Paul, Jeff Garcia had a huge part in helping to tank the season thanks to his no-show in Atlanta after practicing all week as the starter and assuring the coaching staff he was going to play.

Monte's defense didn't perform like they should have for a month.  The circumstances have been documented by the players, PR and ex players including Sapp.  The buccs should have been 2-2 to 3-1 in December.  It didn't happen.  No matter how you look at it - it comes out the same.  Pick different times, games, drafting, FAs, and I might agree.  That December - you're incorrect.

Yeah it's all Gruden's fault....<yawn>.  Blaming this mess on Gruden is as stupid as saying one guy's screw up represents the entire organization.  Wrong on both ends.

Here's a thought: rather than pouting because you weren't going to be able to grill Dominick as originally planned, take advantage of the opportunity to talk one-on-one with the director of scouting instead.  Who knows, it may have been fun and informative.

Precisely.  Too much groveling from some folks....just proves the old saying that there are some people that will never be satisfied.

The Atlanta game.. all he had to do was start the right QB.

There has to be reasons he didn't go with Mccown.  I don't disagree with his choice.  Mccown just sits in the pocket and slowly creeps to his right then decides to run every play.

I don't really like the division of responsibility.  When we won the SB behind the #1 defense in the land, Gruden got all the credit, but when we tanked 4 games to close out 2008...Monte gets all the blame.  Was Gruden the HC or the OC?  Its true the Monte had full reign on the D, and if thats true....what exactly was Gruden doing as HC, running the offense??? Rank 24, 10, 22, 23, 29, 18, 14... thats not exactly stellar.  So I guess what I'm trying to say is that we have to be very clear on what Gruden's role was; was he the HC (if so, he is completely responsible for the 2008 skid), was he a glorified OC (if so, his ranking average in the 20's).

Theres just too much Gruden is great, Gruden is great...He won the Lombardi, but OH no....the 4 game skid isn't his fault, that was all Monte.  How about Gruden is great Gruden is great, his offenses were consistently in the 20's while Monte's D was consistently top 10, that is if we assume the Gruden controlled the offense and Monte controlled the defense.

Like I said, I didn't mind Gruden but all this Gruden worship is starting wear on me, especially when people overlook certain aspects and twist certain things to make Gruden look like he walked on water.
