Have the Jets really tossed around that much money? Yes, they just committed a ton to Ferguson, but they only gave Tomlinson Derrick Ward-esque money and while they traded for Cromartie and Holmes, neither got contract extensions. Cromartie is only making $1 million for 2010 and Holmes $630,00. The Jets have been pretty payroll neutral. Ferguson got money vacated by Faneca, Tomlinson got Jones' money, and Cromartie got Lito Sheppard's money.

One of the worst left tackles in football is going to sit out the season? COne of the worst LTs? LOL. How many more statistical reports and how many more times do you need to see this guy play before you realize this? Penn is average with his only value being that hes the best of a pathetic group of offensive tackles. Being the only guy capable of holding down the LT position is not a reason to lock that player up. He needs to prove hes worth it or he is going to get replaced. I'm starting to think he is going to get replaced after this season, either by a premium draft pick or free agent, most likely a draft pick.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson-T- Jets Jul. 8 - 10:02 pm et Jets LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson's reported six-year, $60 million extension only guarantees him one year and $5.3225 million, according to Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio. The rest of the contract doesn't become guaranteed unless Ferguson plays effectively and without serious injury in 2010. Ferguson's base salaries for 2011 and beyond are guaranteed only for skill -- not for injury. He will be guaranteed $22 million if he avoids injury in 2010 and 2011, but the real contract numbers aren't close to what was initially reported.Source: Profootballtalk on NBCSports.com
