Found this gem buried and thought I'd repost it. Keep it bookmarked so anytime some moron starts in with the Gruden worship, you can just copy and paste it. The truth.

2002 - Won the Superbowl with the #1 rated defense in the league. This defense is considered by many to be top 3 all time. They completely dominated. Gruden's offense on the other hand was led by Brad Johnson's dink and dunk 5 yard plays and ranked 24th, barely improved from 26th overall the prior year under Dungy.

2003 - Gruden fought with McKay and won. He fought with Keyshawn Johnson and won. The team however did not. It was our best offensive year under Gruden, we ranked 11th, but we still went 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 1998. We had the plessure of watching Brad Johnson as QB again. Shawn King played a little once Brad was hurt.

2004 - Gruden got his man Bruce Allen. First thing they do is let Lynch, Sapp, and Keenan McKardell go. Offense ranked 22nd. We went 5-11 in a very ugly season with Brian Griese as our starting QB.

2005 - Cadilac Williams has his break out rookie year and we run him into the ground. Offense ranks 23rd, and we begin the Chris Simms era. We go 11-5 and make the Wild Card game. Our defense allows the Redskins only 120 total yards, but our offense is so dreadful we still lose 17-10.

2006 - We had alot of injuries this year. After Simms had his spleen removed by the Panthers, we enjoyed Bruce Gradowski at QB. The offense ranked 29th and we went 4-12.

2007 - We sign Garcia and Jake Plummer. Plummer retires rather than come to Tampa, and Garcia is named starter. Offense ranked 18th. We went 9-7 and made the Wildcard game only to get embarrased at home by the Giants. Our fans didn't show up and neither did our team.

2008 - Gruden tried to get Farve but failed. He did manage to piss off Garcia in the process. So we got to watch Griese play again and later on Garcia. The offense did rank 14th and at one point we were 9-3, but after Kiffen's announcment to leave, Gruden was unable to keep the team focused and we had a complete collapse, losing our last four games. Two of the losses were to the Chiefs and Raiders. After having thier contacts extended just 6 months earlier, to stay thru 2011, the Glazers fired both Gruden and Allen.

Gruden was handicapped by not having a 1st round pick his first two years, and a maxed out salary cap. He and Allen did a horrible job with the picks they did have though, and wasted the cap room they did have by signing a long list of old free agents who didn't work out. They lost the Bucs identity that Dungy had created, and they failed to replace it with a new one. They left the team a shadow of it's former self with no identity and no star players or leaders. This is why we are rebuilding from scratch. This, wether you like it or not, is the truth.

2007 we also had one of the top 3 weakest schedules in the league. We only beat one team that was over .500.

This thread can go downhill now...

And you wonder why people bash Morris yet you do the same and only instigate it.  You failed to mention Kiffin's name in there with Lynch and Sapp and did you watch the games in 2003.  I recently re-watched that whole season and can honestly LMAO at you! How clueless.  Funny you mention the best offense under Gruden and failed to bring up the defensive letdowns.  You also failed to mention the missing picks from Keyshawn and the second rounders for Gruden.  I'm done because you can't even convince yourself much less others.

Can someone refresh my memory about the 2003 defense?  I can't seem to remember much.

come on guys you have to at least make it not so biased.

By pretty much not giving him credit for 2002, you have to stop reading....

You mention the offense ranking but fail to mention how many pts they scored in the playoffs, as opposed to the previous years with Dungy's offense which was field goal galore....

Badabing

To be precise....a whopping TWELVE points in 8 quarters of playoff football in 2000 and 2001...including ZERO touchdowns.  And people thought Gruden rode the coattails of the D?  Dungy did likewise....now giving credit where due, it was Dungy that helped build the D, but it is pretty much common knowledge that Kiffin pretty much ran it and tweaked it.

Regardless, the entire argument is old.

Actually, i saw something "new".

I didn't know we lost to the Chiefs in that 4 game debacle in 08! They must be the new team in our division-- because earlier in the year we beat them 30-27 after the defense let them walk all over us. Thank God for Garcia, Gruden, & A.Bryant.

Trtue Chronic....but we'll give benefit of the doubt and figure he meant the Chargers....but the Chargers were at least a good team.

Still, had the D not choked in December that year, we make the postseason.  Que sera....it's over.

Dude, seek medical advice, you are really consumed with this. I understand you have nothing positive to say about the current regime, but continued delusion posts like this has to be unhealthy. Please try and join us in the present.

Which response do we get this time? Butthurt? Needs medical treatment? Or the all time favorite, \"Drama Queen\"
