He was a top corner the year he came out and was a 1st rounder by the Chargers. Not sure what happened to him. Could be a roster filler or could be a diamond in the ruff like Hovan, we'll see.

And just to get this out now since I know it's so important to some with each and every Buc acquisition...Davis is only 26 years old.

He was a bust for the Chargers, and was involved in a swap of busts with the 49ers (for Rashaun Woods), who did not attempt to resign him.

Seems he would have more upside than the typical training camp body. Maybe a change in scheme would benefit him.

Upside: Still young, former 1st round pick.

Definitely worth a look, but this may be his last stop before the CFL if he can't make the cut.

he's still young and with Morris Coaching him up who knows...

low risk signing...with some potential.  Solid pick up in my opinion

Signing Davis could push Bolden to FS, killing 2 birds with one stone. We save money by not signing a FA Safety and will not have to use a high pick on one either. Davis could be damn good as a dime back instead of a starting CB. Solid signing and gives us versatility with Bolden.

So we have: Ronde Barber, Brian Kelly, Juran Bolden, Alan Zemeitis, Torrie Cox, and Phillip Bucchanon as cornerbacks already.  Add in Sammy Davis and this gives you 7 quality backs.(quality doesn't nessecarily mean good, but guys capable of doing alright)

Maybe my prediction of Kelly to safety can become true.  So far we have Phillips and Allen as our only guarenteed to make the team safeties...
