Played 4 NFL games one sunday 5 or 6 years back and lost them all (about $300), and havent bet sports since. I think bett8ing the NFL is like flipping a coin. Im glad I learned my lesson early in life and without losing much.

I play poker online and have done well the last 3 months. I havent played online in a few years and just started back up. I play single table tourneys, usually 9 man $20 buy in and my ROI in those is 45%. For some reason I NEVER win when I try the $10 or $5 buy ins, I think its because the players are worse or they just play worse because they dont care as much about losing $10.


Im learning that the most important thing is knowing when to step away. Im pretty good, Ill stop playing for a couple days if I lose 50-$60 and Ive managed to do well managing my bankroll. My dad is a much better player than me but he has an Irish temper and tends to just play for higher and higher dollar amounts and lose more and more when hes down. Its actually a sad thing to watch

I used to do OK playing single table $50 buy ins on Party Poker.  Averaged about $1500-$2000 a month profit for a while.  Then they banned me!

These days its a lot harder.

I like online poker because its convenient. I can multitask and play, rather than making an event out of going somewhere to play. Im not really into that

Football got me 3 years ago. I went down $5000 by the third week. Stopped and haven't bet since. I do give my $20 a week for a 13 run and a 33 but thats it.

Curious as to how good some of you have did at the casinos. I seen some people hit over 60k. Figured this would be interesting.

When I go to the local casino its with 60-100 bucks and if I double it I walk.

Gambling is a problem for me but I'll share my big win/loss story.

Online at BoDog a few years back, I won $50K (all profit) playing blackjack (top bet allowed was $500 a hand) and then gave it all back and a few thousand on top of it. Winnig big and then giving it back is a pattern for me.

Once (online again) I took $600 and turned it into $10K. The casino went out of business but they DID pay me half.

I now live in Vegas (Henderson) and I am trying to avoid the casinos. Sometimes I am good at doing that. Other times, I give in and play.

Last year, I stayed at the Golden Nugget for three months. I slowly built up a BJ war chest and wound up winning $4K during that three month period. On some nights, I won $20 and took that and went to sleep. During that run, I didn't have one night where I didn't win money.

The trick to BJ is to hit and run. Once you're up, get out and fight another day some other time. Easier said than done.

Back in 2002, I won $30K on one hand of Let It Ride, online. I was betting $200 a hand and was dealt four of a kind. Gave it all back and a little more.

Not proud of those stories but I can talk/write about them now without shaking my head in disgust. Back when those things happened? Horrible.

The only reason I was even able to win those large amounts is because I was out of control in the first place.
