OK, I get that we could suck again this year. But WHY would we take another WR next year with the #1 overall pick after we drafted two guys this year and have Sammie from last year? Why, after we just signed our LT to a long term contract, would we go out and draft another OT?

Just goes to show you how uninformed some sports writers, and fans are. I've seen predictions like this from fans, and writers alike in 2009 the Bucs were not a 3-13 team. That was just their record, if they got a few calls here or there they could've easily won 6 or 7 games. Looks at the film wins against Washington, ATL, Miami, and Carolina were all within reach, the ball didn't fall their way in those games and made them look worse than they were.

I have no doubt the Bucs will be much improved from 3-13 in 2010

A couple of breaks in the other direction and the team is winless. Goes both ways.

No reason for fans to be so highly indignant when writers opine that a team that was as bad as it was last year might not be much better. All teams drafted and participated in Free Agency and thus feel they've improved. At this point....there isn't a ton of evidence that the Bucs have improved more than other teams have. We'll see as the preseason and early season plays out.

Predictions are worthless but the reality is the Bucs are not likely to be one of the better teams in the NFC this year.

In their division they are not better than the Saints, or the Falcons and may or may not be better than the panthers.

Everyone in the NFC East looks to be better than the Bucs in 2010.

The Packers and Vikings are head and shoulders better than the Bucs, while the Bears and Lions are likely good competition for the Bucs this year.

That is not to say the Buccaneers could beat anyone of those teams on a given week but the by the end of the year they will likely be in the bottom half of teams in the league.

Why is it such a stretch that a team with the 3rd worst record in the league last year could have one of the 3 worst records in the league in the upcoming year?

Its not. People get angry because we have a lot of young talent and POTENTIAL and hate to think that our guys wouldn't take another step this year towards reaching that. Plus considering how we ended the season and some of the subtle moves we made in the offseason true bucs fans see nothing but bright lights. We could go 2-14 but I don't think we will.

Every team in the league has players who are new to the team, either young or experienced, who fans expect to help them this year. The Bucs are no different than any other team in the league.

"The 2008 Lions are the only NFL franchise to go 0-16, but the Bills, Bucs and Rams could all very well do it in 2010..."

Moronic.

There's a reason only 1 team in history has gone 0-16: It's really tough to do. Even awful teams luck into 2-3 wins.

Even predicting 2-14 for the Bucs wouldn't really get my dander up.  I mean, I think the team will likely do better than that, but as a fan, I would.  Until the team proves otherwise, it's perfectly reasonable to assume that they're going to be pretty awful.  But going 0-16 is hard.  Really, really hard.  It represents a downright epic level of failure.  Saying that three teams could "could all very well" meet that mark is pure hyperbolistic rhetoric.

we ARE still one of the three worst teams in the NFL.   Why would you think we weren't?  You can criticize the guy all you want, but the Bucs STINK becuase our starters are inferior to most other team's starters.  Except for Talib and Winslow, no one is of pro-bowl caliber in their position.   In fact, almost EVERY player we have is average, to below average in their respective positions when compared to other NFL teams.   Faine and Joseph are better than average in their positions, but everyone else is worse than their counterparts on other teams.    the ONE thing that made the Bucs succeful in the years we were successful was we had something teams didn't.   We had an edge that other teams couldn't cope with, and it made us successful.    That is, we had a clever defrensive scheme with the Cover-2 and a tough defense that played well together.   We had STUD players like Sapp, Lynch, Brooks, Barber in their prime.  we dont have aything close to those players right now.  We have NO super stars.   What we now have is one of the worst defenses in the NFL.    when you add one of the worst defenses in the NFL to a mediocre offense, you aren't going to win games.

this team IS one of the worst teams in the NFL.   perhaps our easy schedule will give us some easier wins, considering we play St Louis, Detroit, Cleveland who were competiting against for a top draft pick...   but we'll be in the bottom seven teams for sure

Because this team that went 3-13 last year added a playmaker (or two) at WR, and 2 playmakers on the d-line. This team won 2 of its last 3 games last year, and it's defense only allowed 17 ppg (which would have been 10th in the league) after Bates was let go and Raheem took over. Logic tells you the defense will get better... logic also tells you there's a good chance the offense improves as well.

This team will win at least 8 games. Let me know how your foot tastes in January.

Do some homework before you post, pal.

if we win 8 games, its a complete fluke!   Look at who we play....

Cleveland (5-11)
Detroit  (2-14)
St Louis  (1-15)
Seattle (5-11)
Carolina twice (8-8) and on their way down to 5-11 this year
Pittsburgh (with Byron Leftwich as starting QB)

there's 7 games right there we SHOULD win, and that's saying something about our schedule because our team stinks on ice.  Dont confuse reality with your devotion to the team.   one is based on fact and the other is based on illogical faith and hot cheerleaders.

I woudl venture to say if this team DOESNT win 8 games this year, it would have not improved over last year, considering this schedule.
