Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik provided an injury update on Josh Freeman's broken thumb during a Monday afternoon press conference. Although Dominik is pleased with Freeman's approach to rehab, he said that Tampa Bay is interested in acquiring another quarterback for the remaining two games.

This doesn't smell right.

Why acquire a QB for 2 preseason games? Thats crap. I think they want to get another QB in case Freeman can't play regular season games.

I don't think they are confident in the backup QBs we currently have.

They need another camp arm. While JJ and Carpenter can use all the reps they can get it's not uncommon to have a bunch of live arms for practice. Keeps them fresh and also keeps the receiving corps from suffering should they have down days due to fatigue. I look for them to bring Snead back.

If it is Snead, that tells me they aren't worried at all about Freeman. If they actually give something up in a trade to get Clemons or Rosenfels, or someone like that then I think I will start to worry a little.

As we learned last season, the JJ-fanboy brigade is strong.
