I was watching the DET/PHI game saying we need a speed RB like Best. Huggins is that type of speed player when he's healthy. Hopefully he'll be active on Sundays so we can see what he does in a real-game.

Either way we need to draft a speedy RB next year. Caddy seems to be lacking the burst.

i love caddy i wish him the best...but the holding calls are killing him.....and i think he just runs with fear of his legs....he needs to let go and cut like he used to idk if he has it in him but he needs to run with confidence.

I'm pretty sure there's blame to go around.  Williams is certainly thouroughly upgradeable, but the oline wasn't even coming close to "hold[ing] blocks all day" in the run game.

caddy was slow going through the holes.  vision is horrible.

put a jahvid best in our back field and we are a legit team.

tired of the fan love of carnell.  he should not be re-signed, he has 2 knee injuries and has obviously lost more than a step.

lets get a playmaker back there.

o line cant hold blocks all day, only to have the back have horrible vision and not know how to "thomas jones" it, and just get yards +2 by falling forward.

we need a gore / thomas jones type player in our back field.

tired of carnell. over the hill. o line is average. javhid best is running with below average for the lions.

its the back, not the o line.  we need to invest a high pick on rb.

cant hold their blocks all day? lmao, how about for a second or 2?

Fact is, Caddy wouldve had about 130 rushing yards vs Cleveland if not for holding penalties, and this week we faced a touch Carolina front 7 and our OL played below average in the running game

Whether Caddy sucks or not, it wasnt his fault he performed poorly vs  Carolina

lol I knew someone was going to watch that game and then think that's all the Bucs need.   You're wrong.  just flat out wrong.   Caddy is no world beater but behind just a decent oline he would have acceptable numbers.   We have a bunch of guys who act tough but really are only good at standing straight up and using their hands to fend off pass rushers.   We don't have any mean guys who will hit a linebacker in the mouth and create a running lane that lets the back get into the secondary and use his moves and quickness.   If we did you wouldn't see us needing to run draws on 3rd and 10 because we wouldn't be in a third and ten situation.

I will not disagree with you that if Carnell had a better O-line he would have better numbers. However, I will also agree with the OP in that Carnell look increasingly slow today. I thought I was the only one to notice that, and didn't want to rain on today's parade with negativity about Williams.

I am curious to know if there is a reason that maybe PR can dig up. Sick? Tired? Too many hookers in his room last night? I don't know, but he was definitely slow and indecisive today. He looked like Ward today. I wish Kareem was healthy damn it, it would have been nice to see what he would've done today.

lol, what holes? Holes were so rare it's ridiculous. When there were holes, he hit them and gained small chunks. Cadillac's issue is that he'll virtually never break it for a huge run, he often gets run down by LBs because he isn't all that fast. On the bright side, he's a strong runner who rarely goes down on first contact once he gets going.

But if he's constantly getting hit in the backfield, he really won't get the chance to break tackles. Bottom line is, RB could potentially be upgraded but the OL is a much bigger priority. Contrary to what you may have thought you saw, Best had holes to run through today. Against Carolina he wouldn't have done much more than Cadillac did, if at all.

I too felt that Carnell was slow today. I am really concerned about our rushing attack next week against the Steelers(freakin Chris Johnson did NOTHING today), Kareem Huggins needs to be in the game, if healthy(this injury is more severe than led on).

Well really, this only proves my point and hurts OP's. Chris Johnson is easily the best "quick" runner in the NFL and he did nothing today. I think it's safe to say that this was a result of having nowhere to run rather than Chris not being good enough. On the same token, if we can't make holes it doesn't matter who we're playing or who's running.

bump, happy to see we found blount this season... now we dont need a high draft pick spent. but i am happy that we learned that the problem for the first 5 weeks wasnt the o line (even though it needs upgrading) but rather, was  Carnell williams being a horrible back.

The other thing is Best wasn't doing much better than Carnell either. He was doing his yards on screens, his rushing was well below average. I think he was at like 3.3 ypc

ya think?

I've been telling anyone that would listen that Carnell was over-hyped. Too bad it took 5 yrs and Blount to make others see the light.

I thought Lovie said he wanted quickness & speed, even at the QB position?

Not a big Caddy fan but he is doing a nice job as the 3rd down back.

From Roto today.

Cadillac Williams ran the ball four times for 21 yards and added three catches for 22 yards in the Week 16 win over the Seahawks.

Caddy is playing his change-of-pace, third-down back role to perfection, averaging 8.3 yards per touch over the last seven weeks. It's certainly not enough to make him a fantasy option, though, as he's just not getting enough opportunities.
