what's this 20,000 free ticket stunt all about? why not do that throughout the season

If people know the team is going to give away tickets throughout the year, there is no incentive to buy them.  This is the last home game of the season, before the playoffs start.

I do agree that it is shocking to see people sit outside in the heat for hours to get a $6 ticket for free.  Insane.

Price is right.  It's embarrassing that the city of St. Pete can't support that team better than they do.  Move the damn team to the fairgrounds.  Screw St. Pete.

St. Pete's hold on the team has weakened significantly with this year's attendance woes.

The way the Rays and Yankees are playing these last few days, you'd think neither cares about winning the division.

And do the Twins not want Home Field Advantage? They've dropped the last 5 of 6.

I understand you dont want to get your guys hurt and you want to be rested for the playoffs...but Christ at least TRY to win these last few games.

Looks like both NYY and the Rays ARE trying to win.

The Yankees were in some sort of slump at the end of last season then went on to win the WS, as well - so maybe there's hope for the Rays who are struggling now.

This Rays team has got to be the most frustrating team to watch. Shut out 2 or 3 by the Orioles. Now the Royals who have played well against the Twins.

And anyone see what Burrell has been doing @ SF? Is it really Maddon's fault for putting him at DH instead of RF?

Regarding freee tickets - didn't think fans would take the Rays up on their offer. The broadcasters on radio commented that this crowd was much different  - most likely people who've never been to an MLB game -  Really think the Rays need to do this a couple of times a season to somehow capture these types of fans.  Think that they should also give free tix to USF  students once in awhile.

If there were any doubts as to if Sori will re-sign with the team, those were ended when he hired Scott Boras.

Here's some funny rookie hazing on Helli, Jake McGee, and Dez Jennings:

Yep. Everyone knew that was coming. Crawford and Pena are next to depart.

FDR could have caught that ball, absolutely no hustle at all. CC needs to take some notes from KC's up in coming CF Dyson. That ball that Upon hit looked like it was going to tie the game even with Jennings at 1st but he cleared half the field and caught it. That sucked, wouldve tied it for sure with Jennings speed.

Big Lame Shields gives up a run in the first to KC and Pena strikes out again.  Christ, the Rays need to beat KC and they are playing like they WANT to open as the wildcard in Minnesota.  Maddon has to bench Pena, he is horrible.  BTW, Rays got boned out of a triple play in the first.  Shoppach had the runner out at the plate but ump must have $ on the Yanks or Twins....

Shields just gave up back to back triples, I smell a bad loss.  Damn Rays are embarrassing themselves in KC....

The playoff rotation should be very interesting...

Price, Garza, Davis, and Helli (if we use 4 in the first series) would be mine.

Unless the Yanks blow it in Boston. The Rays can kiss the East good-bye.

LOL.

Yeah, who could ever imagine the Yanks losing tonight and the division being tied, again?

BTW, Chicken Little, if they wind up tied, the Rays win the division.
