A lesbian couple says they were kicked out of a Baltimore Ravens game earlier this season for kissing in the concourse of M&T Bank Stadium. However, a spokesman for the Maryland Stadium Authority claims that the women were asked to leave the stadium for stealing a plastic cup from a concession stand.

Mary Kate Morris and Nicole Marchetto told The Washington Blade that before the ejection they had ordered food from a concession stand during halftime of the Ravens' Sept. 26 game against the Cleveland Browns. The couple had also taken a plastic cup without paying and intended to use it for ketchup.

While waiting for their orders, the women engaged in "casual kissing." They said a security guard immediately asked them to stop, but they failed to heed the order even after he repeated the warning twice.

Soon afterwards, the security guard demanded to see their driver's licenses, and then the women were told to leave the stadium immediately. When they asked why they had to leave, the guard accused them of first stealing the cup from the concession stand and then accused them of stealing the beer. A Baltimore police officer intervened and told the guards the couple did not steal the beer. The couple has receipts for all the purchases.

Nonetheless, they were forced out of the stadium by three police officers. As they left, Marchetto said she told the officer, "I am a paying customer and a law-abiding citizen."

Morris and Marchetto contend their ejection resulted from the kissing and nothing else.

Somebody isn't telling the truth. It could be the guard, the couple or both parties. Stories like these tend to get subtlety tweaked in the aftermath, especially when legal action is being considered. The security guard said the women stole beer despite the complete lack of evidence. And Marchetto says the kissing was "no different from what numerous law-abiding straight couples were doing all around us" which sounds strange because I doubt there were actually "numerous" couples kissing around them. I think makeout sessions tend to be the last thing on people's minds when they're squirming through the dirty throng of humanity that is an NFL concourse at halftime.

Whatever you think about public displays of affection, though, they're not an ejectionable offense. Neither is grabbing a cup, for that matter. Granted, those cups are more important than you may realize (I used to work at a concession stand at RFK Stadium and know all too well that you get charged for every cup that's missing at the end of the day), but not so important that they warrant three police officers escorting people out of a stadium. Why not just make the women pay for it?

meh, if the picture is accurate I don't see the problem unless the security guard needed time to get his camera.

The NFL tries to portray a family image.  I see nothing wrong with throwing a couple of sexual perverts out of the game.

I was having dinner at a restaurant in Perth, Australia a while ago and 2 guys were making out at the table next to us.  The waiter did nothing about it.  We asked to be moved to another table.   It was disgusting.

Family image? Does that include the drunks spilling their beer who dont know how to sit down? Or the morons who know nothing about football cussing every other word?

Would advise anyone feeling the need for 'casual kissing time' to find an appropriate place for the activity - would suggest a stadium is not the location.  And having attended football games in 1/2 dozen stadiums around the country I don't recall ever seeing numerous couples - of any type - feeling the need for 'casual kissing' while at the game.

As for the family atmosphere the NFL is seeking - well, not so much.  That isn't working in NY, Philly or Oakland.  Other venues - like Pittsburgh, Cleveland (except the dawg pound) and Dallas - I found to be very appropriate behavior - Tampa - is in the middle.

Why can't lesbians kissing in public at least be good-looking?

Last season at a Bucs game, noticed two guys kissing after any big Buc play - thankfully the Bucs were playing the Jets. I think they lost 25-0 and Freeman had 5 INTs.

I yelled, "JAVA!" and one of the guys looked up at me. - no seriously, it was a nauseating thing to witness. Thought it was unusual for Tampa, but i don't get around much.

Screw you dude. The world I want to live in, has chicks kissing in public at a football game. Thats more American than apple pie.

You have gotten so anti-homo you have become a bigger fag than homosexuals.

No matter what your preferences are, I'd rather not be subjected to watching two guys in the row in front of me in a long kiss while I'm trying to enjoy a Bucs game.

There ought to be a law. Evidently in Baltimore, there is.

Reaction Formation:

Adopting a position and mode of conduct that defy personally unacceptable thoughts or impulses by expressing diametrically opposed sentiments and convictions. Example: A latent (closet) homosexual finds his sexual preference deplorable and acutely shameful (ego-dystonic). He resorts to homophobia. He publicly berates, taunts, and baits homosexuals. Additionally, he may flaunt his heterosexuality by emphasizing his sexual prowess, or by prowling singles bars for easy pick-ups and conquests. This way he contains and avoids his unwelcome homosexuality.

Here is the thing...

If a man and a woman were kissing at a football game, no one would notice and no one would care.

If two men were kissing at a football game, that will make a lot of people sick and digusted.

If two hot women were kissing at a football game, that will cause every man in the area to cheer.... except maybe BucsGuru

It's a double-standard (or triple-standard?) and isnt really fair. But that's the reality of those three situations.

Actually I use to frequent several of those money tossing establishments....I'm a Christian, but I know what sin is also, and it's not because I read about.

Illuminator, you are so full of interesting retarded information, I'd believe you were describing yourself, but dully note someone of your intelligence and slef righteousness could never be a closet homo.  Yet if you believe I might be a homosexual, then go right ahead and keep believing it.  Just like a freaking queer to try and twist things around so that your agenda can be labeled acceptable when deep down you know it's just as disgusting and sick as the rest of us normal folk, but you can't help yourself.

Chief, you'll have to dig a bit deeper to get under my skin.  And go ahead and throw out the, "some preacher you are" crap all you want, I'll always call a spade a spade.  It was Jesus who declared in public the pharisees hypocrites so I'm guessing he understands when you're dealing with those who give new meaning to the word gimp.
