Our front office had to have known about TJ's situation as well and didn't address S until the 7th.  Even if they didn't, which I don't believe, the SS position was being filled by a FA stop gap on his 3rd team and a future starter there would have made sense.  There were several there in the 2nd that are looking like keepers on the teams that drafted them.  One of them a USF guy.

Which defensive end available with the Price pick should have been drafted?

McCoy has started 6 games as a rookie on a 4-2 football team. I believe that's an accomplishment in it's self. Many first round picks haven't even sniffed the field yet. Benn started last week and got a few touches. Benn in my mind is an obvious talent it's just taking him time. WR has a steep learning curve for most players. Price has been nicked up, but he looked like our best DT early in the season.


And you can't just look at half the draft and discount the later round pics.


Mike Williams is a legit rookie of the year candidate. Cody Grim is beating out Eric Berry in every statistical category and he was a 7th round pick.

Something else I'd like to point out is that I had brought up the idea of drafting 6'5 330 DT Linval Joseph in the 2nd round before the draft arguing that when you are dead last in the league in run defense maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to draft a UT(Suh or McCoy) in the 1st and then a big NT like Joseph in the next round.  Most bashed me on the idea saying we had too many needs to use 2 picks on a DT and brought up Roy Miller.  Yet when MD drafted two UTs back to back just about everyone here thought it was a brilliant idea.  :blink:

I'm still fine with the Price pick, but I liked Linval Joseph, too, and had him in at least one of my mocks. I was a little surprised he went as high as he did. I thought he'd be a 3rd rounder.

based on his college play 3rd round would have been right but when a 330 pound man runs a 5.00 40 and lifts 225 39 times....

How about Koa Misi of the Dolphins ?? He was picked 5 spots behind Price , and he has 4 sacks already...

I would have taken Alex Carrington or Carlos Dunlap before Price also. They could be  beasts one day . Yes, they've done nothing yet at this level , but neither have our guys . At least we'd have someone to develop at a position of need , instead of a career back-up and 3rd down specialist ( which is all Price is ).

I'd also be down with selecting a run stuffing nose tackle , like Skull and Bones suggested ( or a safety or a LB ) , but the Price pick was stupid...

PWNSAURUS, I'm not sure why you keep applying the us vs. them mentality. It has nothing to do with Gruden, but rather your negativity. It's this type of thinking that is the reason only 30K show up at games now. It's less about wins and losses and more about self-hatred.
In some ways the worst thing Gruden did was win in his first season. Nothing less than a championship would be good enough after that. To despise the only coach who ever won a title for us is flat out NUTS, cuckoo, loco, a couple cards shy of a full deck!!!
Let it go! The BEST thing you do is root for Raheem and the Bucs NOW. We all need to do that. I love our four wins and hope for many more.
In a way Cyber's post is a big positive. If we can be 4-2 without our top four picks contributing, imagine how good we COULD be if a few of these guys improve as we all anticipate?

So a guy who was only projected to play outside linebacker and a bunch of natural defensive ends who have yet to do anything. Noted.

yeah, I was going to post a similar thought.  Why does every discussion have to turn into GruAllen vs. DoMorris.  Why does every move MD makes above criticism with so many here?  He has and I'm sure will make mistakes.  Hopefully he has more good moves than bad at the end of the day for this team's sake.  But he is not above reproach.
