David Haugh, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears rookie DE Mark Anderson has made an instant impact in his first NFL season, recording 3.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in limited time after four games. "I'm behind a great group of defensive linemen, and I'm just out there learning every play and just trying to get better every snap," Anderson, a fifth-round draft choice, said. "It's really fun." Anderson recorded two of his sacks matched up against Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl OT Walter Jones in Week 4.

Reading how he played against the SeaHawks REALLY PISSED ME OFF. When it was our pick in the 5th Round, I was surprised and disappointed so see us pick Jenkins over Anderson, and his 3.5 sacks already this year proves why. We desperately need someone like him at the moment who can come in for a few snaps a game and really get after the QB. We only have Dewayne White who can do that from the DE position, once either Rice/Spires needs a rest.

I was disappointed, too.  The Bucs opted for a player who was versatile enough to play DE or DT, but wasn't good enough to contribute at either position.  Maybe Jenkins can be groomed to be that player, but we could have used some instant impact from our draft picks.

Not to take anything away from the kid, but there are a lotta players on that D that teams have to account for.  He wouldn't have had the same opportunities here, even with the same amount of Playing Time.

boy we have seen zero impact this year from our draft picks. besides trueblood, none of them have even been active yet.  OBF, i'm with you. i remember we supposedly really liked Anderson, yet we passed him up in the 5th despite the fact we were obviously targeting the d-line with that pick.  why draft a tweener (Jenkins) that doesn't stand out on the interior or the exterior of the d-line?  our coaching staff seems to like tweeners and also likes cross training guys at multiple spots.  i understand the benefit of versatility, but i have always said that its better for a player to be good at one position rather than decent at 2 positions.

First of all I do not think the Bucs had a failed draft.  Only goobers would believe that at this point in time.  Second of all I had a mock draft with Mark Anderson in the second round (Eric winston in the first and Zemaitis in the third) and everyone on this board ripped me a new one for suggesting to draft a player like Anderson in the second round.  So I will take this oppurtunity to say I told you so.

Wasn't our starting QB drafted this year in the 6th round.  Now I wouldn't say it was a completely busted draft would you?

Aside from Grads, the Bucs have nothing to be up in arms over.  Yet.

And for a team in rebuild mode, that is a harsh pill to swallow, considering Reggie BUsh beat us on a punt return.  Think about  that long and hard.

Screw the missed tackles, aside from on that special teams play that cost us.

As well as the bad penalty on Joey G.

The Bucs should have brought down a ROOKIE on that punt return.  Bisaccia is that good right?  Not.

The Bucs have not gotten much production out of their rooks, and considering the youth of the team, that is not good.  Espescially when you factor in the win loss ratio.

I wasn't a huge fan of Anderson before the draft because a lot of people were overrating him to say the early-mid 2nd. He wasn't worth that. In the 5th, I figured he'd be a no-brianer. Instead we pick a tweener who is painfully average in most every way. I didn't like the pick. I know most everybody else didn't like the pick. And while I don't think Anderson is as good as his stats so far(pass rush specialist subbed in mostly passing downs surrounded by the best defense in the league), it's undeniable someone dropped the ball on this pick.

Joseph should start next week, True played average today against a pretty good DE in Grant, Grads was good, Z-Man who knows, and Stovall should have a TD, and was good on running plays.
