 :o :o :o :o
Thread is about gun control - not sure what you mean.  You right wingnuts are wandering off topic - review the thread.

"Democrat Rep shot in Arizona"

I'm pretty sure you typed that thread title, yet you're confused about it's subject?

I think I've said it before, but you're definitely the most arsebackwards poster on this board.

Way too early for politics to enter this, (in a perfect world, they never would) wish MSNBC and dunce-a-crat K Olberman quickly pointed out how the lady shot was targeted by Sarah Palin for removal from office and how on the Map Palin had on her web site, it use a cross hairs symbol to indicated house members they wanted defeated in the last election. Basically did everything exact accuse palin of causing this. Then I saw the nub on Fox start some republican slanted comments I forget what because it just annoyed me too and I turned it off. Heck even the Sheriff in the PC gave his political view. (or I think disgust of one really) A tragic event and we can't just get the news. That is an added shame.

It is a sad day, we no longer have any news agencies. They are all entertainment companies with agendas. Each as bad as the other.

Which response do we get this time? Butthurt? Needs medical treatment? Or the all time favorite, \"Drama Queen\"

John Galt?

•Studies show that 1 percent of gun stores sell the weapons traced to 57 percent of gun crimes.  According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the dealer that armed the DC area sniper is among this small group of problem gun dealers that "supply the suppliers" who funnel guns to the nation's criminals. (Between 1997 and 2001, guns sold by this dealer were involved in 52 crimes, including homicides, kidnappings and assaults.  Still open today, it also can't account for 238 guns or say whether they were stolen, lost or sold, or if their buyers underwent felony-background checks.)  As a result, these few gun dealers have a vastly disproportionate impact on public safety.  The ATF can recognize such dealers based on: (1) guns stolen from inventory; (2) missing federal sales records, needed by police to solve crimes; (3) having 10 weapons a year traced to crimes; (4) frequently selling multiple guns to individual buyers; and (5) short times between gun sales and their involvement in crimes. Yet ATF enforcement is weak due to a lack of Congressional support and resources.

If ever there was a stat to completely dispute Morgan's idiotic rationale, this is it, and provided by him.

ONLY 1% of gun stores sell 57% of weapons traced to gun crimes. That means 99% of gun stores are doing a right and proper job and do not need extra legislation. Sounds like we just need to better enforce the existing laws on that rogue 1%.

UPDATE: This is allegedly Jared Loughner’s You Tube Channel. He lists his favorite books as Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto. There is no evidence of any Tea Party/Ron Paul/patriot movement affiliation, much to the disappointment of the Huffington Post, but Fox News and others are hastily building his profile as a nutcase conspiracy theorist.

UPDATE: A second man has been arrested in connection with the shooting, while a third man is also being sought.

UPDATE: Reports suggest that the gunman is a 22-year-old white male named Jared Loughner, an Arizona native.

UPDATE: Amidst a widespread assault on gun rights, we learn that the gunman was stopped after he was shot at by someone in the crowd exercising their second amendment.

UPDATE: Giffords’ father has told the New York Post that “the entire Tea Party” were enemies of his daughter, suggesting that a Tea Partier was behind the shooting. However, Giffords is a blue dog Democrat who is pro-border control and pro-second amendment - an unusual target for a “tea partier”.

Political hacks have wasted little time in exploiting the tragic shooting of Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords to demonize their political opposition despite the gunman’s motivation being completely unknown at this time.

Huffington Post has already blamed the shooting on second amendment activists who held a meeting last year to discuss ways of politically defeating Giffords. They are also hyping speculation that a semi-automatic weapon was used.

Before it was even clear whether or not Giffords had survived, neo-lib statists were already shamelessly milking the shocking events for political gain. Our forum members also report that CNN’s David Fitsimmons is using the shooting to demonize “fringe” politics.

More updates to this story as it develops……

Giffords was a strong border control advocate and the gunman could have been someone with a grudge against her immigration policies. Hwoever, she also supported Obamacare and visited the Copenhagen global warming summit, so the murders could also be blamed on a “right-wing radical” and used to demonize the patriot movement.

The gunman was tackled by onlookers and arrested by police. He is described as a young man in his teens or early 20′s.

“The man was young, mid-to-late 20s, white clean-shaven with short hair and wearing dark clothing and said nothing during the shooting or while being held down. He didn’t look like a businessman, but more of a “fringe character,” reports Gawker.

Giffords is still alive and is now responding to commands, while other victims are in critical condition. Federal Judge John Roll has been confirmed dead.

Statement from Alex Jones: Whatever the motivation for this shooting, our hearts go out to the the Congresswoman’s family and supporters. It is important to note that, the anti-2nd Amendment, victim disarmament crowd will undoubtedly try to use this event to demonize gun owners and further restrictive legislation. Mexico has a total gun ban, and the worst record for killed and kidnapped politicians and other high-level figures in the world. With more than 28,000 dead in Mexico from the drug war, it is clear that leaving guns only in the hands of the cartels and criminals will only make us all vulnerable.

Eyewitness report from man who helped to apprehend shooter, “After shooting Giffords, the gunman opened fire indiscriminately for a few seconds, firing 20-30 rounds and hitting a number of people, including a kid no older than 10 years old. Rayle hid behind a concrete pole and pretended to be dead. When the gunman apparently ran out of ammunition he attempted to flee, but a member of Giffords’ staff tackled him. Rayle helped hold the gunman down while waiting for the sheriff to arrive, about 15-to-20 minutes later. The EMS came about 30 minutes later. Rayle said he was “stunned” by how long it took medical help to arrive.”

Any society that provides handguns to mentally deranged, mentally unstable citizens is bound to have these and similar shootings (VTech).

Get used to it - and don't be so surprised that it happens.

I wonder why Oma/Morgan didn't point this out in his "gun control" thread?

I've read quite a bit from various sources and I'd have to say where ever this came from, it's definitely filled with errors. But, the information coming out of the event was very fluid (such as Giffords being reported dead). Thus far, only Loughner has been arrested, the only shots fired at the event appear to be Loughner's (his rampage was stopped when he was tackled by two people, not shot at by someone). A lot of the rest appears to be rhetoric and spin on motives behind the reporting and what happened at the event. Stuff like this makes me long for the days we didn't have 24 hour news cycles and the news was on at 6 and 11. More time to get facts straight and not make knee-jerk reactions based on assumptions. Condolences for those who lost their lives, and hopes for a speedy recovery to the injured. Especially tragic about the 9 year old girl

As motive sought in Arizona shootings, sheriff blames politics

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, a Democrat in his seventh term in office, in a Saturday night press conference called his state a “mecca for racism and bigotry.”

First off, this guy is a nut. He wasnt influenced by anyone on the left or the right. He's posted YouTube videos of himself burning the American flag. He's obsessed with mind-control. He's read every extremist political literature he can get his hands on from the left and the right. You liberals trying to blame this on Sarah Palin or the Tea Party makes you look like total dirtbags trying to use a tragedy for your own political agendas.

Now if you want someone to blame for the toxic politics we have today...look no further than the current administration who is forcing his version of healthcare on a population that rejected it, AND he's running up multi-trillion dollar deficits with no end in sight. That's why there is such an angry tone in politics today. People are pissed off.

ok, you guys want to see something really strange?  This is Gillford's youtube channel.  She only has two subscriptions.  One of them being Jared's.  Her last logon was 2 days before shooting.

Rightwing mouthpiece Carl Cameron from Fox had to add the little tidbit that Rep Giffords is a strong 2nd Amendment supporter and gun owner.  Who exactly was this information geared toward - people who think we ought to have stronger gun control laws in our country?
