Watched the Royals play today - they have several good young players including their catcher who was just called up to the majors for the Rays series (Salvador Perez). The guy picked off two runners and had five put-outs. He's pretty damn good. Expect him in a Yankee's uniform as soon as the Royals no longer can afford him.

Seven years down the road.

good luck w/ your travels....still in Austria (lucky you).

Thanks Im heading home though on Monday. The summer flew by.

See thats what i hate about the MLB... A good home grown player will only stay on the team for so long and then hit their prime only to go to the Yankees or Red Sox. Unfortunitely for the Rays they have to play against them every year.

Biggs I'm back..    great win last night.. Longo can carry this team.. Price finally pitched like he should..

I have a good feeling about today against Hughes and then we go with Shields on Sunday if we win both were only 5.5 games behind for the wildard..

Go Rays..

Kotchman great year.. Zorilla is hitting.. Love the Jennings kid. Damon is just rock solid..

imo Joyce needs to be in against lefties as well..

Bucs-Lightning already World Champions. Rays Next!!!

LA Times lists Rays fans as worst in baseball

Published : Monday, 15 Aug 2011, 6:08 AM EDT

ST. PETERSBURG - Tampa Bay Rays fans have been named the worst in baseball, according to rankings compiled by Los Angeles Times .

Times staff writes Kevin Baxter compiled a list of the 10 best and worst fans baseball has to offer, and he ranked the Rays dead last, citing a poor attendance ranking.

“Tampa Bay management gave away tickets to draw respectable crowds during a pennant race last fall,” Baxter wrote. “The Rays are good and exciting, but few in Tampa Bay care.”

According to the list, the Boston Red Sox have the best fans.

Am I the only one seeing how incredibly stupid, and mis-named this whole thing is ... and it has absolutely nothing to do with Morgan ... although, anyone with a lick of common sense should see what I'm seeing.

It's a shame Shields' gem was wasted in the first game by the offense.  But at least they gave Niemann some runs for his gem in the nightcap.

Wow, that's three phenomenal outings by the starters in Boston.

On Sunday, August 21, the Rays will give away a David Price superhero Action Figure with his Super Sidekick, Astro, to the first 10,000 kids 14 and under.

He's gonna take a ribbing for giving up so many hits.... lol

Last 5 starts for the Rays' starters:

Shields:  CG, 3 ER, 6 K's, and 3 hits
Niemann:  CG, 2 ER, 10 K's, and 3 hits
Price:  8 IP, 0 ER, 6 K's, and 3 hits
Davis:  7 IP, 1 ER, 8 K's, and 7 hits
Hellickson:  8 IP, 0 ER, 5 K's and 6 hits

The sad part is the offense didn't give Shields any runs and they lost that game.  Regardless, that's a phenomenal run of starts.

Stunning Biggs, these guys have been stunning.  For the first time in my life I was happy to have a Red Sox fan in my office - asked how 9 hits in three games felt... told him I loved the feeling...

Anybody know why Maddon pulled McGee for Cruz to face Peralta?  Peralta's hitting over 80 points higher vs. righties (.337) than lefties (.254).  Not a good move by the manager.

Biggs - I have been trying to figure out Madden for a good long while now.  No success.  None.  LOL

It's especially frustrating when justifies moves that don't work by saying he uses the advanced statistics - yet he goes against the advanced statistics at other times.  If he was consistent with these things, I could appreciate his decisions a lot more.
