Gaines was #4..... Booker Reese was end of the 2nd.

Yes but we traded our following years (1983) first round pick to move up in the 2nd to get Reese. We would have drafted 18 so we could have had:

Willie Gault, Gary Anderson, Darrell Green, or some guy named Marino

Trading our first in the greatest QB draft in NFL history to move up for Booker, makes Booker the 2nd worst Bust EVER

Gaines Adams would have been an above average LDE for us.

I dont even know if he is a bust.

What really made him a bust was his limited tenure

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

When I think about this, my heart hurts.

Gaines was productive, heck he had 6 sacks every year he was with us it seemed like, I agree with that statement, he would of been a nice LDE.

I think he had more sacks than Woodley did in his first two seasons.

Yep, it's a no brainer.   The ONLY saving grace for that was it was perhaps the worst draft class in NFL history.

Yup, I never understood why everyone "hated" Gaines on here. It's not like he was a  thug, he seemed like a nice guy and always worked hard. It didn't pan out but I don't necessarily consider him a bust.

How is Bo a bust when he never played for the Bucs?  Bust does not equal never signed so I would vote for Dexta, I mean damn how many times do you draft a yard man or even janitor at McDonalds with a second round pick?  Way to go Gruden and Bruce!!

I don't consider Gaines a bust as he gave us some plays and we still got a second round pick for him so not a bust in my book.

Funny how a DE scored more than a second round WR.

I have been a Bucs fan since the beginning but have to say I have never heard of Brett Moritz.
