Clayborn is the DE that could very well slip into the mid 2nd round, IMO. I would like to get him in the 2nd. I really doubt he'll be a 1st round pick.

Clayborn is looking more and more like the pick at #20.

Classic Dominick prospet, in every way.

Classic Dominick prospet, in every way.

And also very much fits Raheem's vision of a much more physical front

Clayborn would be a solid 3rd round pick.

not saying he'll be like Freeman but the same things were being said about him two years ago.

I feel very confident that Dom and Rah, along with our new D-line coaches, have put a ton of time into researching this pick.  They've had their eye on Clayborn for more than a year.  I'm sure they've watched the film and talked to the coaches ad nauseum.   If they feel that Clayborn is the best fit, than I don't think anyone should have a huge problem with that.

If the other 6 (bowers, Quinn, Jordan, watt, smith, Kerrigan) are off the board AND it is true he was asked to gain weight this past year for a two gap system, I'd have no problem with the pick and getting him down to his junior year weight...but I trust Dom/Morris

I certainly like him more than Justin Houston

I agree with that, but I just don't see 1st rounder from this kid.  Potential, sure, but I would not be excited to get him at #20.  Maybe if we went with Ayers or Smith in the 1st and him in the 2nd, but if we trade up for a DE in the 2nd, I would actually prefer Sheard to Clayborn or Houston.

Trade down to the bottom of the 1st/ top of second. Take him and whatever would come with the trade. If that can happen, and you get 2 seconds, replace Talib

If we don't draft him, Atlanta or New Orleans will. There is almost no chance he gets out of the 1st round

Wow. If he's our pick at 20 then we're in trouble. We could very easily be good offense/below average defense for another three or four years. Some of you cried over back-to-back 9-7's and weren't impressed by last year's 10-6. Well that could be the norm from now on. Terrible if it happens.
I'm going on record as saying I would HATE this pick at 20. I'm OK with a flier on him in the second round. Or even trading down and getting him. But with so many better choices at DE this year, Dom's strategy would fail horribly if he went this way. Look at last year's DEs, this year's. Not what we so desperately need.
