I will be disappointed if he is the pick at 20. I would prefer Justin Houston over Clayborn, the most important thing we can get out of a prospect at this point is someone who can get to the QB and Houston does that better than Clayborn

Why the heck is everybody making it seem like the DE in the first round is FULLY responsible for the vaunted pass rush this season? I do believe we're going to have a healthy Gerald McCoy and Brian Price so the new DE won't have too much focus on him trying to be the "guy" right now. Its a unit thing, I'll be happy as long as get good value from a DE.

In "Rahminik" I TRUST!

If the doors for free agency swing open, before the draft, I'd be even more in favor of this pick! Clayborn was the DE I wanted the most at the beginning of the year, and if it was a  fact that he was asked to put on weight to play a two gap system, then that seals it for me. The guy was a FORCE in 2009!!!

Detrimental if you were responding to me, I have no idea how you possibly got that from what I posted. The Bucs need pass rushers and houston is the best one. I'm not putting the entire pass rush on his shoulders

Because in round 1 I'm not drafting a guy to just be part of the team. I'm drafting a guy to be a playmaker so if just want a guy to sponge off McCoy I can wait until later. If you like Clayborn I'm sure you want the "part of the team" aspect of things because that's what he's gonna be.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

Why would you hate the pick? Clayborn > ANY  DE on the Bucs current roster. In my twitter lang can you say #WINNING?

Same reason i didn't want us to pick Gaines. IMO, your 1st round pick should be an impact player....not an also-ran.

I thought Lovie said he wanted quickness & speed, even at the QB position?

We're picking at #20 MID-first round. Its unlikely in most cases we get a "playmaker" that everyone salivates over. The premiuem playmaking DE's go before 20 and you'd be kidding yourself if you don't think otherwise, in this day in age in this pass happy league. Clayborn isn't my first choice either but he's damn sure better than anyone on the Bucs roster. Clayborn has much more upside than a latter DE so...Mid-first guys you'll HAVE to live with their flaws its just how it is. Unless you want to get a playmaking DE you'd want for us to trade up.

Thank you. Why do we have to get a DE anyway if the ones that we really want are gone. We could use some help on our offensive line. Just because Freeman is big doesn't mean I want him hit on every pass attempt.

Considering he's one of the best run stuffing DE's in the nation, I believe he could make an impact in that regard. How many "impact DE's" have came across the league at picks 20-32? Not many

It's the arm. The Erbs Palsy. Mike Mayock was just talking about it on NFL Network and saying how he believes Clayborn will slide out of the first round. He has to play at RE because of the arm. Lacking the versatility to move around on the line and do different things severely limits his value to most teams. It comes down to the question "Is he the pass rusher you want on the right side for the next decade?" If there is any hesitation to answering yes, then he is probably not the guy you want to take in the first round...cause if he doesn't get the production you want at RE, you can't just move him to LE like you would any other DE. That's a lot of unnecessary risk in the first round.

IF Clayborn is the pick, I'm fine with it...

I have nothing to tell me that our FO doesn't know what they're doing...

Although it could be the guy at 20... I really don't think that will be  the case....

I fully expect to be absolutely surprised at the first round outcome thursday night....

Frankly - I'm glad to done with all the 'experts'  speculation.

Let the guys who get paid to do this... do it.... and do it well.

shibby.

Who knew how good it would feel as a fan when we now know what it\'s like for our team to have a direction, an attitude, and dare I say an offense?.

Good time to be a Bucs fan.

i'd be ok with it...i'd prefer trading up for kerrigan/jordan over clayborn, but the cat can stop the run. so what if he's a RDE? if he plays physical and helps the run-D then i'm all for it. find a LDE and an OLB that can get after the QB with one of the 2nd/3rd/4th rounders and take a flier on a pass-rush specialist later in the draft

I'm on the Clayborn bandwagon previously didn't care for the pick but after researching more and reading i'm all for him!
This!

I've been warming to the idea myself.  This, of course, should be very worrisome if the team actually *does* pick him.
