He is very much in the mold of Cody Grimm IMO.

I would compare him to Brian Dawkins to be honest.

Pat Kirwan doesnt like the pick. He says Black doesnt fit in to Raheem's defensive schemes at all.

I wonder who knows Morris' defensive schemes better, Kirwan or Morris?  Thanks for posting, though.

Also, most people recognize the defensive schemes are going to change with the new DE's.

thats odd, considering Morris had a lot of say in the pick.

I respect Patty Kirwan and his thoughts but I believe he was looking at Black as a corner...uh, no. He's a safety.

I'll take that for a 5th round pick any day.

I love this pick, because I hate the Gators. I have watched Black make big plays, big tackles, and he hits like he has a anvil in his shoulder pads. I hated him in college because he was always making the big plays and hits. Now he plays for us. By the way, if this was a track meet, I'd hate this pick. Look at tape of him playing football and you will be hyped up to see this guy anywhere on the field in our defense. Great draft, I am excited.

These are pretty much the same knocks on Cody Grimm last year. I'll take a guy who has ball-hawking skills and is a sure tackler every time over someone who has the prototypical size and speed (e.g. Sabby) to play in the NFL.

I thought of Black as a system player. With that said, I think this is the system he needs to be in. Couldn't disagree more with Kirwan.

I think I am faster in a forty than he is, and I am 38 years old...and out of shape.

Dude is slow...he is a backup for life, IMO.

I respect that...But Mayock loves the guy and has him as one of his top safeties...He will fit in right away in our 3-3-5 alignment when we run 3 safeties out there... I think he will eventually become the starting FS...

Uh oh. Somebody better call Morris and tell him about this. You think he would know who would fit his scheme. What a boob!

Too bad Kirwan couldn't have been in our war room to stop this pick!

LOL @ the jackass who is obsessed with negativity...Cyber.

So, Morris doesn't know what Morris' scheme looks like? Thanks for the laugh.  :P

I think he's keying on that he's too slow. (4.7 in a 40) and the Bucs typically like faster guys.

5'9, 185, 4.7, ballhawk, good at run support, a young Ronde Barber ??? I've never seen him play, and I know we're hearing safety, but I gotta say his description reminds me of Ronde.

Damn it! Morris and MD forgot to look at his 40 times!

You should call them and alert them to this oversight.
