Frankly, he should have been fired months ago.

The hammer should be dropped on the program.

Ouch! Changing HC's in June is a recipe for disaster.

So, do they stick with an interim? Or go for a big name?

With the lockout possibly screwing up MNF, does Gruden drop to college ball? I do not see Meyer going to Columbus only after a few months from quitting for "health reasons". It is too late to get a coach from another team, so it is either someone between jobs/in broadcasting or an interim. What ever happened to Terry Bowden? He was very successful at Auburn, and didn't have any rules issues, just a Clinton/Lewinski type issue.

Urban Meyer was rumored when all of this started. Probably will just stick with the interim coach and get someone next offseason.

Without knowing everything that happened behind the scenes, this is a black-eye for the University.  Tressel looks like the one who knew he could never recover from the multiple violations, but the University didn't.

He was pretty much forced into quitting, otherwise he was fired.

Maybe that is the case, I don't know.  I think it should have been done much sooner.

As an OSU fan, don't you think the University would have looked better if they had been more decisive and firm in this situation?  I mean, this wasn't some petty, minor violation.  It was a pretty big deal.

I agree. Which is why I am pretty upset they waited this long for something to be done about it. Obviously some more information has come out now and maybe that swayed the decision into letting him walk. I don't see Tressel ever coaching again after this.
Going to be an interesting year, Luke Fickell has been here 9 years so he has experience.

Ahhh poor Ohio State, lol. Tressel and Gene Smith are jokes as he should have been fired a long time ago. Really you hide stuff from your boss to protect a bunch of guys that wow won you another Big Ten Champ.? All this national love for a program that plays in a weak conference and plays a weak non conference schedule is really a joke. Ok yeah you beat Arkansas but let's face it Ohio State is one of the most overhyped teams of all time other than Notre Dame.

Then that is their best bet. Just hope none of Tressel's nonsense ran downhill and got on Fickell.

He will be the guy for this season no doubt. But after that who knows, guess they will have to see how he recruits and players respond to him. Don't have much faith in him, considering he has been here 5 years and I really never heard of him until lately.

Pretty interesting - doesn't paint a pretty picture of him over there.  I think they make too large of a presumption that Tressel should've known what was going on.  That one incident where a player got $150 - then coming down on Vest for not knowing?  Thats a bit much.

You can't blame a coach for everything. At some point you have to look at this guys as grown men. They shouldn't need and adult or coach right from wrong. Funny that some scrub Ray Small would blow this whole thing up now.
