LOL yeah that one is a head scratcher. Just a camp body, maybe? Unless this kid is the next Brad Johnson I guess it's safe to assume Josh Johnson isn't going anywhere this season.

I might be the only one but im intrigued by that kicker Jasper. I didnt realize he was an all American. I like Barth a lot but you can always upgrade.

You're right, picking him up wasn't strange at all.

I'm glad that during the most heated and fast-paced FA period in NFL history that we spent time picking up a backup QB who threw 40 passes in 3 years.

Some will whine about anything. The Bucs typically bring in a 4th QB as a camp arm. Coughlin's actually got good size and impressed at his pro day. So who knows.

Happy and Peppy and Bursting with love.

How many passes did Matt Cassel throw at USC? Not many....

Matt Cassel sat and learned behind Brady...not saying Freeman doesn't have the potential to be Brady or better...just pointing out that Freeman is still learning too, while Cassel had plenty of time to take notes. same with Rodgers for that matter. IDC what you say about game-time experience. I liken it to a training new employees in a restaurant: management can tell the kid how to do it, but the guy who works the position the best trains the new kid the best. you learn alllll the tiny details that management doesn't show you because they don't DO IT.

just saying, Cassel behind Brady is not the same as Joe Schmoe Qb behind a stellar-but still learning the tricks-JFree.

He's just an arm, with no chance of making the team. However, for training camp, somebody has to throw x number of passes to all the rookies and free agents who also won't make the team. The real quarterbacks would blow out their arms if they had to throw that much, and have better things to do working with the first team and planning with the coaches. So, you get a guy who can stand and throw downfield until his arm falls off, in order to get looks and practice for the other kids. In September he'll be selling cars.
