Exactly.  This wasn't just a run of the mill hammy or bicep injury the dude fractured his pelvis and had to have screws put in.

Which relates to ballooning up how? Inactivity? No, you'll start rehab ~ one week after surgery and the usual pattern in lower body operations is to lose body mass from muscle loss not to gain fat.
I'm not defending Price or his current condition, per se, but the surgery that was done was experimental; so, perhaps the doctors were less intent on getting him moving too early. It's hard to say what should have been done from our perspective.

Any way you look at it, it is good to have him working in TC.

Excited to see McKenzie get a shot. Local kid who by all accounts is a tough, hardnosed leader. Being a 3rd round draft pick by Bellick & NE says a lot about him.
