Ahead of what curve?   If he isn't as good as Ruud from day one, he's a downgrade.

How will they regret losing Ruud?? What because we dont have a vet MLB?? Last thing I remember this is the youngest team in the league. Were not the favorites to win any SB this year. Regret losing Ruud is the most laughable topic of the offseason. Congrats to whoever started it.

Why wouldn't they be able to make the playoffs?    They went 10-6 last year didn't they?   And they upgraded the team this year and the players from last year have a year more experience don't they?

Who said anything about making, or not making, the playoffs?

Losing Ruud is a detriment to the team if they plan to make the playoffs.

Short-term maybe but sometimes you have to take a step back to improve your chances of long-term success. The Bucs run defense has sucked ever since Ruud has started. Time to take the steps to fix the problem. I liked Ruud but it became kind of obvious that he was not the long-term solution.....and it looks like the rest of the NFL felt the same way, since no team would give him a long-term contract.

Meet the 2007 Buccaneers Defense (they made the playoffs).

Ruud was MVP that year.

Full of vets. He also played next to one of the best Buccaneers of all time. Funny how after Brooks left he was never the same player.

It wasn't due to Brooks leaving.   It was after Kiffin left and was replaced by Raheem.  That's a HUGE downgrade.

Kiffen was the man for sure. Wont argue that. Whether or not a coach leaves shouldnt change how a player plays. Lets face it Ruuds a nice guy but he got dragged around way too much. That has nothing to do with who the HC was.

We'll see what he does on the Titans.   If he is better, the problem was Raheem.

If the problem was Raheem... Wouldnt Ruud say that it was him?? When he left I saw mutual respect between the two.

Ruud is a class act.   He wouldn't say something like that even if it were true.    This season will tell us all we need to know.

It will be interesting to compare Ruuds numbers with our MLB this season. The run d should be a real indicator of where this team is without Ruud.
