Ron Paul schools Santorum on Iran diplomacy
Posted on 08.11.11

At Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum quarrelled over the notion that the U.S. should negotiate with Iran.

“They have no evidence that they are working on a weapon,” Paul said. “At least our leaders and Reagan talked to the Soviets. What is so terribly bad about this? Countries you put sanctions on, you are more likely to fight them. I say a policy of peace is free trade, stay out of their internal business. Do get involved in these wars and bring our troops home.”

“Iran is not iceland, Ron,” Santorum insisted. “Iran is a country that has been at war with us since 1979. Iran has killed more American men and women in uniform in Iraq and Afghanistan than the Iraqis and Afghans have.”

“The senator is wrong on his history,” Paul interrupted. “We’ve been at war in Iran for a lot longer than ’79. We started it in 1953… the blow-back came in 1979 because we don’t mind our own business. That’s our problem!”

As I said to the wife last night, How do you destroy a Ron Paul Presidential campaign?

A. Ask him a Foreign Policy question.

This is what? The third time he has had a total melt down in the debates simply by answering FP questions?

then why did he get the most donations from those serving in the military in 2008?  and what melt down did you just watch?  I saw him getting the better of Santorum and the crowd cheering.

If you're going to write anything about being schooled, please spell the words right (deplomacy).

And why would anyone care about two candidates unlikely to get to primary?

Palin isn't a candidate - neither is Buchanan.

Even more of a reason to question your obsession.

Paul has a very devoted, almost cult like following. They turn up everywhere and click like crazy on polls etc. Personally I do not see much into him winning any kind of straw poll right now. It is his modus operandi. Only problem is when the real votes come in, he disappears very rapidly.

Correct me if im wrong, but most of our issues with Iran stems from the relationships we have in that region and vice versa for them.  Especially Isreal.  In addition, their pursuit of nuclear weapons, and human rights violations.
