According to John Clayton.   Whether you take his opinion seriously or not, nice to see Freeman get some national recognition.

"13. Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Analysis: He posted enough numbers to graduate into the elite level. He has a 63.5 QBR. Scouts Inc. placed him in the top 200 players, 13th among quarterbacks. He generated six fourth-quarter comebacks last season. He completed 61.4 percent of his passes with a young, unheralded receiving corps.

How does having 12 out of 32 QBs ahead of you make you elite?

I agree with those rankings. Right now I can't put Freeman above Ryan, Romo or Flacco. key word being "right now" he needs to play a playoff game...and I am more than positive that's in his future.

Eli an elite QB???  I think not.  When I think of "Elite," I think of the top 3-5 players in that position, not 15.

Imo there are only 4 real elite quarterbacks in the NFL.

Brady, Brees, Manning and Rodgers. In that order.

I think and hope Freeman will become a elite quarterback in the next years but hes not that now.

Interesting. These were my rankings. I'm sure someone will get on me for ranking Vick so low, but he's just too inconsistent IMO. He'll look great some games, and just not get it done in others.

1. 1.Aaron Rodgers
2. 2.B. Roethlisberger
3. 3.Drew Brees
4. 4.Tom Brady
5. 5.Philip Rivers
6. 6.Peyton Manning
7. 7.Josh Freeman
8. 8.Sam Bradford
9. 9.Matt Ryan
10. 10.Joe Flacco
11. 11.Jay Cutler
12. 12.Matt Schaub
13. 13.Michael Vick
14. 14.Matthew Stafford
15. 15.Tony Romo
16. 16.Eli Manning
17. 17.Kevin Kolb
18. 18.Colt McCoy
19. 19.Mark Sanchez
20. 20.Matt Cassel
21. 21.Kyle Orton
22. 22.Ryan Fitzpatrick
23. 23.Matt Hasselbeck
24. 24.Donovan McNabb
25. 25.Chad Henne
26. 26.Jason Campbell

"Elite" is such an over used term when it comes to NFL QBs.  Elite signifies the best of the best.  So who is that when were are talking about QBs?  Maybe 6 guys depending on who you ask.

Brady
Manning
Brees
Rodgers

Some will say Rivers, some will say Big Ben.  Beyond these guys I don't think any other QBs are elite.  There are some QBs in the NFL that have the potential, but that doens't make them elite.

I remember reading in one of Claytons articles an "elite" QB is one that can throw for 4000 yards and 25 TDs in a season

Which is idiotic because stats alone don't make an elite QB.  An elite QB needs to be able to carry a team, engineer game winning drives, win in the playoffs, give the team a legit chance to win with 2 minutes left in the 4th qtr. down by a score, etc., etc.

Whether a QB can throw for 4,000 yards, or 3,000 yards doesn't make them elite.  Stats make an elite fantasy QB, and fantasy football (despite the fact that I enjoy playing) has destroyed everyone's perception of what exactly an elite player is.  Hey, Matt Schaub threw for over 4,000 yds. and 24 TDs last year.  Is he an elite QB?  On the same level as Brady, Brees, or Manning?

Theres 13 elite qbs in the nfl? lol i agree with the few people who have said elite is manning brady brees and rodgers.
The next tier would be rivers big ben and vick. I feel as though freeman can put his self firmly amongst this group by years end.

Eli Manning won a Super Bowl.  He has a weak offensive line and nobody to catch the ball.

lolwut? The Gmen had one of the best lines in the league that year and had Burress, Steve Smith, and Boss to throw to.

\\\\\\\"...even if we win the SB not getting a few FAS with so many available was being pig headed and fanatical.\\\\\\\" - 4bucs
