Morris singles out Miller, Okam, Hayes, Black

Bucs head coach Raheem Morris didn't wait for questions, using his opening remarks to single out four of his defensive players for poor play at the start of Monday's weekly news conference.

Morris said he didn't like the way nose tackles Roy Miller and Frank Okam got off the ball or the job they did against a Lions rushing attack that accounted for 126 of Detroit's 305 total yards in the Bucs' 27-20 loss on  Sunday.

"We didn't get very good play out of the nose tackle position,'' Morris said, bluntly, "and I addressed that with them.''

Morris also said he was looking for more from linebackers Geno Hayes and Quincy Black.

"We need better plays out of our studs,'' he said.

The best thing Miller has ever done is be better than Hovan and Sims in 2009. He peaked as a rookie.

Agreed.  Miller has peaked and relatively speaking the defensive tackle talent has improved and he is at best a #3.

Hayes made some plays, but he and Black failed to come clean up with the draw plays the Lions were running a clinic with.

The first thing Morris needs to do is to lose the consideration that Black and Hayes are in anyway studs.

Happy and Peppy and Bursting with love.

LOL "studs" yeah, wth you been watching?!?!

This is a joke!! Hayes is back-up material, Miller too. They peaked, sorry. Being young doesn't mean you will automatically get better.

Sucks to say we drafted a DT in the third round as a rotation guy. I wanted Terrence Knighton anyway and he's twice as good as Miller/Okam.

News flash Raheem those guys are studs. In fact they suck and have been long over due to be benched. Yet we have rewarded guys like Black for sucking.

Those 4 guys should single out Raheem for poor coaching.

I can see a scenario where they rotate Hayward/Watson a lot more from this point forward.

And your surprised by this why Rah. Your blind loyalty to players is going to hurt this team getting better. Black has never done anything spectacular here and Hayes has never been consistent. I'M SHOCKED.

It's becoming more and more clear the team has no idea how its players measure compared to the rest of the NFL.

That is one of the down sides of the Rah/Dom regime, in that they can't objectively evaluate their talent comparatively to talent across the NFL.
