It is regression because while we started off last year just as bad, we finished strong. We looked really good the majority of the time in that last 5 or 6 games. We showed improvement through out last year and we were a much better team at the end of the season than we were at the beginning, despite the injuries.

So I am not comparing the first 7 games this year to the first 7 last year. I am looking at how we finished last year compared to how we have started this year.....and it is obviously a regression. We have looked closer to the 2009 Bucs than the 2010 Bucs.

In our 4 wins we looked like the 2010 Bucs...In the 3 losses the 2009 bucs...this team is Jekyll and Hyde.....just like we were last year at this point. This bye week comes at a great time and hopefully we can duplicate our solid performace from the second half of 10' and at least be competitive and exciting to watch again on a consistent basis.

Actually the problem isnt that Freeman stinks. He is average. He puts up good numbers just often enough to make you think he is better than he is. Bad and great are convincing. But mediocre makes you live with the delusion for too many years. He is just good enough to waste our time and not good enough to get us where we want to go.

I think we looked like the 2009 Bucs for three quarters of the Vikings game, and the Colts game.

The biggest difference is the sharp increase in turnovers and penalties. I would argue our defensive improvement has been a major reason why we're 4-3 instead of 2-5. We can be a good team but not good enough to withstand 8-10 penalties a game and 3-4 turn overs a game. When we protect the ball like we did last year we can beat top caliber teams such as the Saints.

I'm waiting to see if we can a game by 10 points or more.  I'd like to see us put away an opponent early and not get a a 4th quarter heart attack by barely beating any opponents.
