For the record, if we couldn't get Suh....I wanted Tyson Alualu or Brandon Graham. I never liked the McCoy pick, I just quit complaining about after the draft because once a guy is a Buc, he's a Buc. You gotta root for him. Unfortunately it appears I and many other were right. He was over hyped and is apparently held together with chewing gum. Fingers crossed, but it would appear he is on a path to becoming a bust.

For the record, my favorite post.

Funny thread. I was one of those "homers" who thought McCoy was the better pick than Suh. McCoy gets penetration, and Suh doesn't. It's a fact that has not changed since college for these two. Has anyone watched Suh? All he has is a bull rush, and he takes every 3rd play off. Dude is nothing like McCoy....he plays NT a majority of the time, not UT. He would have been a terrible choice as a 3 technique.

Stats this year so far:
McCoy: 16 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 ff.
Suh: 13 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 0 ff.
Alualu: 19 tackles, 1 sack, 0 ff.

i was gonna do a long response but figured it was pointless...because i dont know the plan.  cant defend something i have no idea on.

Geno Atkins is the best DT from that class so far.

Henry Melton is also having a good year.

Atkins has 22 tackles and 7 sacks. He is a baller.

Vontaze Burfict is also a great player for Cincinatti. He went undrafted and Lewis signed him off the street. He has got his stuff together, apparently. He is a starter now.

Gerald McCoy is finally healthy and proving those that backed him over Ndamukong Suh in the draft weren't crazy. His 23 total pressures so far this season are second only to Cincinnati's Geno Atkins among defensive tackles and seven better than Suh.

Honestly, the remarkable thing isn't the contents of this thread itself, it's how many people are still making the same arguments now  (in other threads)  that they were in 2011.

PTL  - McSofty finally can make it through a season without an injury.

I don't see why he has so many haters.

He's the best 1st round draft pick by the Bucs since Derrick Brooks.

Sure he could be making a few more impact plays, but they should come in time when the guys around him grow into good players as well.

People who are hating on him either don't know what a DT is supposed to do, or don't have any perspective on the talent level of most DTs in the league.

LOL. Wouldn't be surprised if we're doing the same thing next year with Freeman threads.

And yet we will set an NFL record for passing yardage allowed. Time to gloat? I think not. McCoy played 16 games. Give him a medal. Suh regressed too. Yay! None of it means McCoy is what we hoped he would be. And we all lose because of that.

This is just one of many many examples of why I'm glad that fans and posters of this board have no real say in what goes on. Knee jerk reaction would be an understatement of many posts on this board. Injury prone, cut him, write him off to pro bowl. Laughable really.

Depends on why we're gloating.  Am I ready to enshrine him in Canton?  Of course not.  Do I feel comfortable saying that it was pretty damned stupid of people to want to write him off as a "soft piece of garbage" who shouldn't have been on the roster this season?  You betcha!

He still has a lot to do IMO.........He's a tick above average, no more.
