I like Kotchman - combination of hitting, fielding and professional approach to the game... and he isn't slower than your grandmother, maybe your mom... maybe

The Rays have agreed to sign Carlos Pena to a one-year deal that will bring the powerful first baseman back to Tampa Bay, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports on Twitter. He'll obtain approzimately $7.25MM, Heyman reports.

Good to have him back, he was a fan favorite. Just hope he cuts down on the K's. Rays lineup now looks pretty damn good.

Sweet.  Now I can wear my "Light it up, 'Los" shirt to the Trop again.  He's great for the clubhouse, excellent at 1B, and hopefully regains the old swing.

I see this as the projected lineup, granted we know Maddon changes it every day.

1. Jennings
2. Zobrist
3. Longoria
4. Pena
5. Upton
6. Scott
7. S-Rod
8. Joyce
9. Molina/Lobaton/Chirinos

Pretty good lineup

I am not sure we want 3 righties leading off or else I might pencil Upton in behind Jennings to get two speedy bats at the top of the order but I think your top 3 are right. With that said, I see Scott batting behind Pena to protect him...we don't want two low avg guys back to back that also strike out a lot, so I swapped Upton and Scott. I also moved S-Rod to 9th to get some speed at the bottom of the line-up.

This lineup has a lot more power than last year but we lose a lot of average with Pena instead of Kotch. With that said, not having Jaso and Shoppach behind the plate will improve the team's average. I just hope Pena can do a little better than .225. If he can get closer to .240, that would be a lot better. Longo should have a much better year than last year too. Last year we had two guys hit more than 20 HRs. This year, I could see as many as 7 players with 20 HRs...that's crazy.

1. Jennings LF
2. Zobrist 2B
3. Longoria 3B
4. Pena 1B
5. Scott DH
6. Upton CF
7. Joyce RF
8. Molina/Lobaton C
9. Rodriguez SS

Pena and Scott gives us some power. I like the moves so far.

Great to have Los back at 1B. Fantastic glove, great clubhouse guy and power. Longo, Los and Scott will be nice in the 3-4-5 spots.

I am hoping Carlos can hit .240-.260 so we don't notice the loss of Kotchman's average

Agreed.  If he's around .250 with his usual power numbers, it's a win.

Going to an interesting year in the AL... Fielder ending up in Det makes that offense really stout.

But they overpaid and moving Cabrera to 3B is certainly going to help them build a very bad infield defense.

Wish we would hurry up and figure out what we are going to do with one of the starters.

Their offense is going to be pretty nasty, but that defense will suffer.  Jhonny Peralta at SS and Miggy Cabrera at 3B will be ugly.
