Question for those that know the Rays much more than I.

What was the thinking of the Rays when they drafted Tim Beckham and not Buster Posey?  This is not hindsight because I wanted them to draft Posey then due to the lack of quality catchers on the team.  Besides that, good hitting catchers like Posey are rare.  Just askin.

It’s going to look to some people like a different play every time we use it, but pretty soon they’ll be able to recognize it....by watching the official for the first-down signal.   -Vincent T. Lombardi

Posey was in consideration for the #1 pick. We probably picked Beckham because at the time his upside at the SS position was through the roof. Where as Posey just had a better floor.

Rotation set:

Shields - Price - Hellickson - Moore - Niemann

Looking like Davis to the pen.

I'm excited about Molina behind the plate.  Hoping he can play 100 games, but that's probably high hopes.

I want to be but I will still be in Charlotte.

Planning on moving back around June 1st so hopefully I'll be able to get in a good amount of games this year.

If the Rays can just make the move across the bay I will be first in line to purchase season tickets.

IDK how I feel about Molina. I love having him on the team but I really wish it was in a 2nd role or atleast paired up with another catcher who I have some faith in.

100 Games would be a godsend.

I third that notion. I'm holding my breath with Jose Lobstein back there.

I know it is pre-season - but I don't think Madden would be out of line if he told the guys it was okay to start hitting and scoring some runs.... damn

Looks like Farnesworth is DL bound with elbow soreness.

That's not good.  Maybe Rodney can fill in for a few weeks.

http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120403&content_id=27878700&vkey=news_tb&c_id=tb

Kyle Farnsworth is likely headed to the disabled list with a right elbow issue, which in turn likely leaves the Rays' ninth inning to Joel Peralta, Fernando Rodney or both.
