As I said since shields contract was not guaranteed you can't exactly say they cleared money off their books. They just didn't use it. You're also not taking into account several raises by other players. Longoria, Zobrist, Moore have guaranteed contracts not to mention Price would account for nearly a quarter of their entire payroll. Get a stadium in place then I agree with you. But for now, I don't see it. Their payroll does not increase annually like other teams.

You're being absurd.The Rays can afford him because of the trade. That's a huge reason why they made the trade. Stadium or no stadium, Price is going nowhere until 2015 at the earliest.
