Anyone catch the Rich Gannon interview on DUI-dog this afternoon? Called Josh "special" and thinks he's capable of being a very good QB.

\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\"

Going to go out on a limb and guess that the members of this board have seen A LOT MORE of Freeman than either Gannon or Dilfer.

Dilfer dissects tape 24/7.   He gets off on it.

Josh can be what he wants to be. His mistakes he made in 2011 he didn't make in 2010. Shows me the mistakes are correctable. He's just going to have to put his work in and get his receivers on the same page as well.

which means you were less physically gifted or got injured or didnt follow it. Sorry, but I don't buy the argument that playing in the league makes you an expert.

He hasn't shown the mistakes are correctable, he made the same locking onto receivers mistake, it's just with a year and a half of tape, defenses read his tendencies very easily this past year. If he shows this coming year that he can be more accurate, look off his intended target, and lead the team, then I'll believe he's correcting mistakes.

Sharp, most young NFL QBs don't start to be able to read and dissect coverages and whatnot easily until their 4th or 5th year.  I think Freeman will be just fine but he definately needs to be coached up by a guru or someone that is a great QB teacher. It would accelerate that process and get him back on track. IMO you don't throw 25 TDs and 6 INT as a fluke, and let's be honest, that BUCS team wasn't the greatest team ever either...he didn't have many WR weapons to work with outside of Mike Williams & Winslow.

I will go out on a limb and say that Dilfer and Gannon have forgot more football than probably anyone on this board will ever know, myself included.  I think Josh can be a top 5 QB in the right system and with the right weapons, i.e deep threat & running game

So are you saying this past year was the fluke? His first year and third year seem to indicate his second year was the fluke, and his second year says he can be good.
This is a huge year for Freeman, this year should indicate whether or not we have a franchise qb.

that's a lot of support for a supposed top 5 qb. you described what every team wants in order to be successful, you still need the qb to have great skills.
Freeman won't be top 5 until Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, Manning, and Manning all retire.  Then he has to hope to be better then the next level of qb like Big Ben and Romo, and also surpass good qb's like Stafford and Newton, and hope new qb's like Dalton falter, and hope that Luck and RG3 don't pan out.

To think that people are ready to give up on this kid at the age of 23 is ridiculous.    Eli Manning is 31 years old, and in his 8th year...playing with a far better supporting cast than Josh has seen in Tampa...and this is really the first year that anyone can make the argument that Eli is an 'elite' QB...he twice has led the league in picks, and lost more than 7 fumbles twice.  In his 8 years he has never posted a QB rating as high as the 95.9 Josh posted last year.   None of this means that Josh will become an elite QB...but to make the argument that he conclusively never will be is just...silly.
