Based on his track record as both their QB and WR coach, it's pretty hard not to like this. Let's hope it actually happens, I'd infinitely prefer him to Shop and Turner doesn't excite me either.

Word out of Arizona today that John McNulty, the man new Bucs head coach Greg Schiano coveted as a possible OC for Tampa Bay, is absolutely fuming over being denied an opportunity to be promoted and become part of Schiano's new staff. McNulty has reportedly confided to those close to him that Schiano is "the best coach he's ever worked with". McNulty is said to have relished the chance to be reunited with Coach Schiano. Speculation says that fueling McNulty's ire over the block is that after Greg Schiano was named the new Bucs head coach, McNulty had allegedly spoken to Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt seeking pre-approval to speak to the Buccaneers, which he apparently received. If so, that would mean that blocking of the interview request would have come as a real surprise and a slap in the face to McNulty, who is now forced to serve out his contract with the Cardinals before seeking a promotion to offensive coordinator with another team.

This still shocks me especially the part about McNulty seeking pre-approval.  Then having it denied.  Coughlin knows he can find someone to replace him and the guy has been with him since Jacksonville.  That's how you get quality people to work for you.

This would arguably be the best hire so far.  If it happens.

If only because his results have been very favorable, and of the very recent.

He knows the NFL, and has not been disassociated with it recently.  I would be very happy with this hire.
