@Anti-Java, in the 5 second NFLN showed of Bucs "Live Look In" which was pr-recorded, I caught a glimpse of Wright. So yes, he's there.

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

I agree...that would have been way too much salary tied up on 3 guys for a team with so many issues...

Could have got Nicks and tried for Mario instead of Wright and Jackson is more like it....but Mario was in Buffalo immediatley and never left, so who knows if we could have signed him. Even if we had thrown the bank at him he might never have even made it in for a visit.

Also, Mario gets just shy of $10M this year, $12M next year, then $19M in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Then finally $17M in his final year.

gotcha, i just googled this - http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/17/breaking-down-the-mario-williams-deal/ - it said 40mil over the first 2 years so i ran with it.

I'm just going by this. Seems to be the most accurate when it comes to contract details.

That dude  is a GD pass rusher extraordinaire.  Makes are D-line look like a joke.   Maybe if  Bowers went down earlier,  they would of pursued him harder, if they did at all.
They should have went after him anyway.  The guy IS bonafide.

Dom was heavily into his picks, and most of them have failed.

He preached defense defense defense.  And he passed on the best FA DE to hit the market in ages.  Tragic.

But Ilove Nicks and Jackosn is a beast.  So I can live with it...until...

Could of passed on Wright and got Nicks, Jackson AND Super Mario.

Impossible. Dom's head would explode if he didn't have at least one terrible signing, annually.

LOL

Well lets see how it works out.  Dude is in pretty good shape.  BTW, where the hell is he?  I don't think I have seen one pic of him in camp.

PR articles have mentioned him.

Happy and Peppy and Bursting with love.

Bucs needed to address the pass rush, and it wasn't.  In fact, it might have gotten worse, to be honest.

The thing about the offense lighting up our defense is...well...they are lighting up possibly the worst defense in the league, so not much can ge garnished from that.

It will take 20+ million a season to sign this guy.

No it won't. He'll likely command somewhere in the neighborhood of $17M a year.

You were pretty close.  Mario's deal averaged $16M per year.

Yep. And he only got $17M guaranteed. We could have beat that without totally screwing the future cap. I will forever wish we'd have passed on Wright and Jackson....and gone after Mario instead. Not sure if he would have came here or not, but for the combined $20M/year average we are paying Wright and Jackson, I would have much rather taken Mario and gave him $17M/year. In my mind we had a very rare chance to get another Simeon Rice (which is a once in a decade type of FA) and we didn't go after him. I mean Mario just turned 27. He's likely in his prime and will continue to be for the next 5 or 6 years.

Missed opportunity in my mind.
