So WTF happened to Buc's Heaven?

back in January I had to feed a family of 5 on around $100 for the week for several weeks in a row.  It can be done but it sucks.  Typically I spend $150-200.  I will qualify this by saying I shop at a regional chain called Market Basket that supposedly has the lowest grocery prices in the country.  Non of the other chains up here come close to them.  Not even Walmart.  And when I go down to Florida the prices are higher down there as well.

just an interesting sidenote:  that chain (Market Basket) that has significantly lower prices than all their competitors is also the most profitable chain in the country per sq. ft..  One of the companies I work for services grocery stores and despite only having about a 50% share of the business in their stores for our category they average about $8-11k a week in their stores.  In the other chains (not including Walmart) we probably have around a 65% market share and only average $4-5k a week.  In other words they give us half the space the other chains do and yet we do twice the business in them.  The chain (Shaws) with the highest prices is on the verge of bankruptcy and 10 years ago they were a powerhouse here in NH.  Their stores are literally like ghost towns now.

Stopped by their store today. They're going out of business. Everything is 50% off.

I could not afford a $70 Bucs shirt.  That's food for a week these days....and I'm in good shape.  There are others, I should say many, who are not in that good shape....just saying....Tampa's unemployment rate is still higher than the national average and the salaries are well below their even already low ranges.

70 dollars for a week? Who are you feeding? I could probably spend that and hardly eat for a week.
