The majority of the beginning of this thread is a discussion as to whether Zimmerman was a racist and much (if not all) of that discussion stemmed from the first released news which was the 911 tape.  Two or three of the NBC employees involved in the doctoring of that tape have been fired and NBC is a defendant in a lawsuit brought by Zimmerman.  If you read the actual complaint (click the link) you should be able to see how NBC's actions went way beyond editing and (intentionally or negligently) created a false impression about Zimmerman's conversation with 911:

All fine and dandy, but how does ole George know that he looked like he was on drugs? Still have to wonder if ole George would have even paid attention if he was white? I doubt it.. Zimmerman is still a racist.

State's main witness in George Zimmerman murder case lied

"SANFORD — Trayvon Martin's girlfriend, the state's most important witness in the George Zimmerman murder case, was caught in a lie, it was revealed Tuesday.

It was not the first piece of misinformation tied to her, but it was the most damaging to date and left prosecutors in a very awkward position.

They had to publicly acknowledge that their star witness had lied under oath and had to answer questions about what they intend to do about it."

George Zimmerman will go to jail because he was charged with 2nd degree murder so the jury can "compromise" on a lesser charge . . . . and yet since that night we have learned:

Zimmerman was on his back in the grass when the shot was fired
Zimmerman had injuries to his head and face
Zimmerman did NOT use a racial slur
NBC altered audio to make him appear to be a racist
The police did not want to charge him
The original State Attorney did not want to charge him
The State's star witness is a liar.

I do think the media played the racial card heavily in this case. However, cases like this have an endless debate. It seems Trayvon knew someone was following him. After he was confronted I guess he attached Zimmerman thinking he was protecting himself (maybe)....then Zimmerman shots him because he was getting his a$$ beat.

Martin was peacefully walking home until he was forced, in fear, to stand his ground, against an armed aggressor. 

Zimmerman should have adhered to what he was told by law enforcement.
