The Tampa Tribune's Roy Cummings gives the Buccaneers a ''50-percent chance'' of signing free agent MLB Curtis Lofton.

The Buccaneers made an offer to Lofton on March 15, but progress between the two sides has reportedly ''cooled'' since. Despite his reputation as a ''two-down player,'' Lofton has never missed a game in career, and finished 13th among middle linebackers in defensive snaps. His only other known visit this offseason was with the Saints.

I think any reporter who says there is a 50- 50 shot at signing someone is protecting his own hide and not being a reporter.  Any body can say there is a 50 50 shot that means he doesn't know anything and just needed something to report.

Well...they made the offer 2 days after the start of free agency, so they defitnitly were interested. If they still are, is the question.
