If you look at the core of players the Bucs have (Freeman, Jackson, Martin, Blount, and even Winslow) on offensive, the Bucs don't look like a cellar team. If Freeman plays anywhere near the way he did in 2010, they should be pretty damn good. Freeman didn't have a lot to work with last season - this year he does.

On paper our team looks pretty good. Weve added A LOT to this team from last year. We got rid of a couple bad players as well. The team should no doubt be better. How much depends on them and coach Schiano.

Freeman had more to work with in 2011 than Garcia had to work with in 2007 or 2008.

Garcia had Gruden calling plays...Freeman had LOlson

Gruden > Olson

Actually the problem isnt that Freeman stinks. He is average. He puts up good numbers just often enough to make you think he is better than he is. Bad and great are convincing. But mediocre makes you live with the delusion for too many years. He is just good enough to waste our time and not good enough to get us where we want to go.

Gruden is better than pretty much anyone out there.

So Garcia, in a sense, had more to work with...right? That is, if you think playcalling/gameplan is a huge factor.

At stepping on his own Johnson...?  At totally ruining what could have / should have been a mercurial career...?  At not being able to evaluate prospective young players - or develop them...?

Yep... Gruden's better than anyone at screwing everything up.

Freeman had a more talented surrounding cast on the field.

Yup, those rookies sure were talented. Some could argue that Raheem coached up more young players than Gruden did in his short stint as HC.
