Bills | Spikes on the trade block
Wed, 21 Mar 2007 18:58:48 -0700

Mark Gaughan, of the Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills LB Takeo Spikes is on the trade block, and all the economic factors point to him being traded. It remains hard to see how they can avoid spending more cash than their cap limit of $112 million with Spikes on the roster. He's scheduled to make $4.6 million in 2007.

I know that we don't need a LB, but I wonder why the Bills would put him on the trade block and I wonder what they are asking for him.

He could easily play middle linebacker for the Bucs.  He brings more to the table than Q does, that is for sure.  He may not be the same TKO, but the man is a monster! (When healthy)

I think he's on the downside of his career

Make no mistake about that, Skull and Bones.  BUt he is an upgrade at the MLB spot for the Bucs.  But he is old.

He is most definitely NOT injury prone.  I believe he blew his knee out against the Bucs in 05.  But for the first 7 or 8 years of his career, he missed about 1 game total.

He played in almost all of the games last year.

He is very durable, built like a tank, and can move faster than Ruud can TODAY.  I would LOVE to see TKO manning the guts of this defense.

I'd rather us trade for Jonathan Vilma than Takeo Spikes.  It all depends though on who we can get cheaper.

I am sure TKO would have to restructure a lot in order to wear Pewter.  Who would not want Vilma over TKO?  But the prices are going to be very far apart.

Why is 30 old for him & 37 is not old for Garcia?

It's called sarcasm, since if we did get him I'm sure you'd be the first to point that out ::)

I've always liked Takeo Spikes... He would bring a spark to the Defense, very intense player.

THe guy was a stud.  I don't recall him for 06 but if he can still be the guy he was in 05 and earlier  he deserves serious consideration.
